New Planned Parenthood Tool Helps People Find Abortion Businesses, But Not Get Prenatal Care

Planned Parenthood’s name suggests that its mission includes supporting parents who choose life for their babies.

But that could not be further from the truth. Planned Parenthood is primarily an abortion provider, and its newest website feature is just another example.

The “Abortion Care Finder,” launched Tuesday, brags of being an easy and effective online tool for women seeking abortions, Mashable reports. The tool does not provide women with information or resources about various pregnancy options, such as prenatal care or adoption services. It assumes women and girls already have made up their minds about aborting their unborn babies.

Featured prominently on Planned Parenthood’s website and mobile site, the tool asks for the visitor’s zip code, age and last date of their period. The results list nearby abortion providers as well as state abortion restrictions, such as parental consent for minors. It includes whether the facilities offer surgical or drug-induced abortions and how far along in a pregnancy abortions may be performed.

Patients can click buttons to make an appointment or view more details on the abortion facility website.

Mashable reports the search tool does not include information about how much an abortion might cost, and it primarily refers women to Planned Parenthood abortion facilities, though it does include information about independent abortion facilities if there is no Planned Parenthood location within 60 miles.

“We created the tool because we know that there was a need coming from people actually concerned about abortion becoming more and more restricted,” said Planned Parenthood digital projects director Kevin Williams. “I think what’s different is it’s very specific.”

According to Fast Company, the search tool also “updates in real time to reflect [state abortion laws] as they go into effect.”

Nowhere on the tool, however, are the details about what an abortion actually is or the potential risks. It does not provide information about pregnancy options, such as parenting or adoption, or the myriad resources available to parents who choose life for their babies either.

Despite its name, Planned Parenthood is centered around destroying parenthood by aborting unborn babies. Its actual parenting services are basically nonexistent. A 2017 Live Action investigation found that 92 of 97 Planned Parenthood facilities turned away women who were seeking prenatal care. Further investigation by the Pennsylvania Family Institute found that Planned Parenthood facilities in Pennsylvania listed prenatal care among their services but did not actually provide it. After the investigations came out, the abortion chain scrubbed “prenatal care” from the facilities’ websites.

Former Planned Parenthood employees say the abortion chain sometimes even pressures vulnerable women to have abortions through biased counseling. And former Planned Parenthood CEO Leana Wen recently admitted that abortions are their “core mission.”

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States. Its 2018 annual report shows 332,757 abortions and a record $1.66 billion in revenue. While its abortion numbers and revenue have increased, its patient numbers and health services have declined, according to its own numbers. In 2018, Planned Parenthood provided less contraception, sterilizations, cancer screenings, adoption referrals and other women’s health services than the previous year.
