Twitter Censors Pro-Life Group’s Ads, But Allows Abortion Activists to Advertise

It’s pretty clear that Twitter has a political agenda.

The social media site has been caught repeatedly censoring pro-life organizations, while allowing pro-abortion groups to push their misleading propaganda on users.

Live Action, a youth-centered pro-life organization known for its undercover investigations and online outreach, says it has been a continuous target of online censorship by social media giants. It recently reported about how Twitter has been allowing a new pro-abortion group, Equity Forward, to attack pro-life organizations with a series of inflammatory ads.

According to the report, Equity Forward just launched a campaign called Pro-Lies.org, which attacks leading pro-life organizations, including Americans United for Life, Students for Life, Susan B. Anthony List, Charlotte Lozier Institute, Heritage Foundation and Obria.

Its ads on Twitter claim these pro-life organizations stoke “fear with inflammatory lies” to “push an anti-abortion agenda full of hate and lies.”

Equity Forward claims to support “transparency and accountability,” but Live Action had to dig to find details about who is behind the new pro-abortion group. It found that the group’s senior adviser Mary Alice Carter has close ties to both Planned Parenthood and NARAL, two of the most powerful pro-abortion lobbying groups in the U.S. When the pro-life organization investigated further, it found other staffers with links to pro-abortion groups as well.

Here’s more from the report:

Live Action and [its founder] Lila Rose have been banned from running ads unless the Live Action website is purged of certain content with even innocuous tweets deleted — some that show images of babies in the womb. A Twitter spokesperson previously told the Washington Post that Twitter’s “extensive advertising policy states that ads must be honest and accurate. The guidelines prohibit advertisers from misleading people with sensationalized language and deceptive claims,” yet Twitter has permitted Equity Forward to repeatedly promote tweets which attack multiple pro-life groups with inaccurate claims.

Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google and Pinterest are believed to be quietly censoring pro-life and conservative groups.

Earlier this year, makers of the pro-life film “Unplanned” had their Twitter account temporarily suspended, and then, after the account was restored, almost all of the account followers mysteriously disappeared. Twitter eventually restored the account and all of its followers.

Other pro-lifers also have reported problems with the social media company. Last year, Twitter temporarily suspended the account of disability rights and pro-life advocate Charlotte “Charlie” Fien, who has Down syndrome.

Twitter also refused to run an ad from the Susan B. Anthony List in 2017 because it contained the phrase “killing babies.” In the fall of that same year, it rejected another ad from pro-life U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn because she mentioned Planned Parenthood’s sales of aborted baby body parts. Twitter later reversed its decision after LifeNews and other news outlets reported about the matter.

For years, Live Action has said Twitter has been censoring its ads. Founder Lila Rose said the social media site blocked their ability to advertise and told them they would have to change information on the organization’s websites if they want to start advertising again.

In August, Facebook also censored Live Action with a heavily biased “fact check” written by two abortionists. As LifeNews reported, Facebook tagged the Live Action post as “false news” because it explained why abortion is not medically necessary. Later, the pro-life group learned that Facebook’s fact-checking mechanism relied on two abortionists, Daniel Grossman and Robyn Schickler, who obviously have their own biases about the issue.

In September, U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted during a closed-door meeting that his social media company “clearly was bias” against the pro-life group Live Action and its founder Lila Rose.

Over the summer, a whistle-blower at Pinterest exposed how the site was blocking content from Live Action by placing it on a list with pornography sites and other objectionable content.
