An Indiana teenager pleaded guilty Wednesday to murdering a pregnant girl and her unborn baby after she told him it was too late for an abortion.
Aaron Trejo, 17, a student at Mishawaka High School in Indiana, allegedly killed Breana Rouhselang, 17, and her six-month unborn baby in December 2018.
WNDU reports Trejo pleaded guilty to murder and feticide Wednesday during a conference, and is slated to be sentenced in January.
According to police, Trejo said he killed Rouhselang after she told him that she was pregnant and it was too late to have an abortion.
WHAS News 11 reports Roushelang’s body was found in a dumpster near her mother’s home in Mishawaka after being stabbed to death in December 2018.
Allegedly, Trejo told police he stabbed her because he was angry that she had waited so long to tell him about the pregnancy and it was too late for an abortion. ABC News reports Trejo reportedly told authorities that he planned for more than a week to murder her.
“I took action… I took her life,” Trejo told police, according to court documents.
She and Trejo reportedly knew each other from their high school football team where he was a player and she a team manager.
He initially pleaded not guilty.
Here’s more from the report:
Trejo allegedly admitted to investigators that he stabbed Rouhselang in the heart with a knife Saturday night after they argued over her pregnancy, according to a charging document.
He allegedly told police that he went to Rouhselang’s house with the knife “because he thought it would kill Breana quickly,” according to the charging document.
“I took action….I took her life,” Trejo allegedly told police, the affidavit states.
Roushelang’s mother woke up around 1 a.m. Sunday and became concerned when she didn’t find her daughter at home, according to the court documents. She went to Trejo’s home several blocks from her house, but Trejo said he didn’t know of Breana’s whereabouts.
The mother then called the police to report her daughter missing, police said.
Violence against pregnant women and their unborn babies is disturbingly common. LifeNews has reported numerous crime stories where men allegedly murdered or attempted to murder pregnant partners who refused to abort their unborn babies.
