Kentucky voters have a clear choice in the gubernatorial race when it comes to abortion politics.

Republican Gov. Matt Bevin has a strong pro-life record by defending unborn babies and cracking down on abortion businesses for not following the law.

His opponent, Democrat Andy Beshear, has a radical pro-abortion stance. As state attorney general, he refused to defend a Kentucky law that protects unborn babies from abortions after 20 weeks.

A new poll leading up to the November election shows the candidates are even, CBS News reports. Both candidates polled at 46 percent each, according to Mason-Dixon Polling.

Davis Paine, Bevin’s campaign manager, expressed hope for the election.

“With two weeks remaining, voters are beginning to tune in and find out just how liberal Andy Beshear is, whether it’s his opposition to President Trump and silence on impeachment, his refusal to ban sanctuary cities, or his pro-abortion agenda and abortion lobby backers,” Paine said.

Here’s more from the report:

The poll is a windfall for Bevin, who is facing a serious challenge from Beshear, the current attorney general. Bevin is unpopular in Kentucky, and has sparred with the state’s powerful teachers unions. However, the latest poll, by Mason-Dixon showed that Bevin’s unfavorable rating among registered and likely voters is 48%, and his favorable rating is 45%. …

Vice President Mike Pence is slated to travel to Kentucky to campaign on Bevin’s behalf early next month, and Mr. Trump will appear at a rally in Lexington the night before the election.

Bevin has a strong record of protecting unborn babies and mothers from abortion. He has cracked down on abortion clinics, ensuring that they meet health and safety regulations. In 2016, his administration took legal action against Planned Parenthood after its new Lexington facility began aborting unborn babies without a license. That facility still is prohibited from aborting unborn babies.

As governor, Bevin has signed multiple pro-life laws, including measures to ban abortions after an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable, protect unborn babies with Down syndrome from discrimination and protect unborn babies from brutal dismemberment abortions.

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said Bevin is a pro-life hero, and the Kentucky abortion lobby is trying desperately to unseat him. Her organization is working to inform voters in Kentucky ahead of the election.

In contrast, Beshear has a pro-abortion record and recently participated in a fundraiser with a Kentucky abortionist. In 2017, he refused to defend a Kentucky law that protects unborn babies by banning abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
