Abortionist Meticulously Packaged and Labeled the Aborted Babies He Hoarded as Trophies

Late last night we posted the latest on the bizarre case of abortionist Ulrich Klopfer, whose family found 2,246 perfectly preserved fetal remains in a garage in his home in Crete Township, Will County, Illinois.

Turns out that Klopfer, who died September 3, had stowed away the remains of even more babies someplace in Illinois. After we posted, we subsequently learned many more details, including (as the Chicago CBS affiliate put it), “More fetal remains have been discovered in a car that was stored in south suburban Dolton, and which belonged to a now-deceased Indiana abortion doctor.”

I always assumed the first cache of the bodies of aborted babies would be followed by future discoveries. Ulrich, like Kermit Gosnell, was a hoarder and, like Gosnell, Ulrich had some sickness that compelled him to store the babies’ remains inside small sealed plastic bags which contained formaldehyde to keep them preserved.

So, the second discovery, Charlie De Mar reported, was by the Will County Sheriff’s office whose officers “discovered the additional fetal remains upon searching numerous vehicles in south suburban Dolton that were owned by Klopfer.”

“The remains discovered in the trunk were also meticulously packaged and labeled just like the ones found on his property last month,” according to De Mar.

CBS Chicago added

On the outside, there was not much to the rotting, rundown Mercedes Benzes that was found sitting on the lot of the Dolton auto business. …But inside the trunk of one of the eight cars, described as a late 1990s model Mercedes, were five plastic bags and a decaying box of medically preserved fetal remains.

There’s much more. Joseph Hosey, reporting for the Kane County Chronicle, explained

Investigators were aware Klopfer rented space at the business to store eight Mercedes Benz vehicles and met with his family Wednesday to search the vehicles, [Deputy Chief Dan]Jungles said. Remains were found in the trunk of one of the cars, he said.

There appeared to be the remains of at least 50 fetuses at the Dolton site, Jungles said.

“It’s hard to determine right now,” Jungles said. “The more you handle these items, the more stirred up they get,” he said, adding, the cardboard boxes holding the remains were “disintegrating.”

But there’s even more, indicating both that there may be the remains of many more than 50 aborted babies were found along with signs that there could be other locations Klopfer used. WFXT reported

The sheriff’s office says during its investigation last month into the origin of the remains found in the garage it became aware of numerous vehicles and properties either owned or rented by Klopfer in the Chicago suburb of Dolton.

Eight vehicles belonging to Klopfer were located, and in the trunk of one car, five plastic bags and a box were found to contain “numerous medically preserved fetal remains.”

The sheriff’s office says fewer than 100 fetal remains were recovered Wednesday, although that may change “pending a more thorough examination of the contents and records.”

The Will County Sheriff’s Department reportedly believes that the remains found Wednesday–just like the ones found last month– are from abortions performed from 2000-2002. In his long, long “career,” Klopfer aborted “tens of thousands” of babies, although local pro-lifers believe the total is more like 40,000 or 50,000.

As NRL News Today reported last week, in 2016 Klopfer’s license was suspended indefinitely “because of his failure to comply with multiple regulations governing the practice of medicine.” It came to light that he had “performed abortions on underage girls – including a 10-year-old who told him she had been raped – and failed to report it to authorities,” according to WFXT .

Last week, U.S. Reps. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) and Jim Banks (R-Ind.), along with 65 of their House Republican colleagues, sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, asking the Department of Justice to provide any assistance requested by state authorities so that a “careful and thorough investigation of this matter” is made “to ensure justice is done and to prevent such tragic situations from occurring in the future.”

In a separate letter sent to Indiana Attorney General Hill, the Indiana Republican Delegation wrote

This gruesome discovery raises many questions, including when and where the abortions took place, how the remains were transported to the property in Illinois, what physical condition the remains are in, and whether any other individuals had knowledge of or bear responsibility for the preservation and transfer of the remains. Additionally, it must be determined whether any state or federal laws were violated.

Among the many things we don’t know yet is what Klopfer’s purpose was in storing the baby’s remains “ inside … small sealed plastic bags, which contained … a chemical [formaldehyde] used to preserve biological material,” according to the Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley.

And, of course, we also don’t know if the bodies found thus far are just the beginning.
