OBGYN: “There is Absolutely No Medically Justifiable Reason for Abortion”

Responding to Facebook’s biased “fact check” of a Live Action post, Dr. Omar L. Hamada MD, FACOG, confirmed that there is no medically necessary reason to intentionally kill an unborn baby in an abortion.

The OBGYN said Live Action was correct, and Facebook “fact checkers” Drs. Daniel Grossman and Robyn Schickler were wrong about medically necessary abortions.

In August, Facebook censored the pro-life group with a heavily biased “fact check” written by two abortion activists. As LifeNews reported, Facebook tagged the Live Action post as “false news” because it explained why abortion is not medically necessary. Later, the pro-life group learned that Facebook’s fact-checking mechanism relied on two abortionists, Grossman and Schickler, who obviously have their own biases about the issue.

Last week, CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted that his company was “clearly was bias[ed]” in its treatment of Live Action, U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley said. But Live Action said the social media giant still has not apologized.

Writing at Live Action News this week, Hamada explained how the misuse of language about abortion is part of the problem.

He said the medical definition of the word “abortion” is “any premature ending of pregnancy that results in the death of the fetus/baby/child (more disputed terms) whether elective/intentional or spontaneous/unintended.”

Culturally, however, the word “abortion” typically is used to mean “the intentional and elective targeted killing of an infant at any stage of pregnancy for matters of maternal choice or convenience,” Hamada said.

Part of the problem, he said, is that abortion activists sometimes “intentionally confabulates the actual and intended meanings in order to confuse the issues and invalidate their opponents. In the abortion debate, abortion supporters intentionally do this to deflect, redefine, and constantly move the goalposts.”

He continued:

… [abortion activists] state their intended meaning is the original medical/scientific one, yet their intended sociopolitical one is the redefined definition used by pro-lifers. So they are deceptive in their approach as they use one meaning to promote legislation of another. This “moving of the target,” deflection, and attempted invalidation of the pro-life position widens the gap and destroys our ability to rationally debate and understand the issues at hand as hostility instead increases.

Later, he explained:

… there is absolutely no medically justifiable reason for abortion (“the intentional and elective targeted killing of an infant at any stage of pregnancy for matters of maternal choice or convenience”) to save the life of the mother. Period. End of story.

All examples given by Facebook’s abortionist “fact checkers” certainly warrant delivery (termination of pregnancy), but not the targeted intentional killing of the infant prior to delivery (abortion). That is why both Lila Rose and Dr. Kendra Kolb are correct, and why the Drs. Grossman and Schickler are not.

Earlier this year, leaders of the American College of Pediatricians, American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists and other medical groups similarly confirmed that abortions are not health care.

“Abortion treats no disease,” they wrote in a letter published at The Public Discourse. “Pregnancy is not a disease, and deliberately killing the unborn child by abortion is not healthcare.”

Hamada said there is no denying the science that life begins at conception. Yet, abortion activists try to deny that, too, by redefining “life.”

“The abortion lobby’s redefining of life as ‘an independently air-breathing organism’ (incidentally, babies make breathing movements in utero, and these movements are one measure of their wellbeing that we routinely assess), or even as ‘a conscious, self-aware, self-determined, independent person’ is wholly inconsistent with modern scientific fact and is most certainly a politically motivated agenda that places one person’s comforts above another’s right to life,” he said.

The truth is that approximately 98 percent of all abortions in America have nothing to do with maternal physical health, he said. But abortion activists use these extremely rare situations to try to justify killing unborn babies for any reason, at any stage of pregnancy.
