Maine Gov. Janet Mills signed yet another life-destroying bill into law Thursday.

Earlier this week, the Democrat governor signed a law legalizing assisted suicide. Then, on Thursday, she signed another forcing all public and private insurance companies in the state to cover abortions as part of prenatal care, according to Courthouse News.

The bill, backed by the abortion industry and the American Civil Liberties Union, passed the state Senate 19-16 and the House 82-59 in May.

Republicans and several Democrats spoke out against the bill, as did the Maine Right to Life Committee. The pro-life organization slammed the legislation for skirting the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding for abortions through Medicaid, the report states.

One of the leading proponents of the pro-abortion bill was the ACLU.

“There are no similar limits on private insurance covering abortion …” the group said in a statement. “But while a number of insurance providers cover abortion in Maine, many plans do not — even in the extreme circumstances of sexual assault and life endangerment.”

The ACLU also claimed there is strong public support for the measure.

However, polls indicate that most Americans do not want their tax dollars to fund the killing of unborn babies. In 2016, when Hillary Clinton campaigned on the same issue, a Harvard University poll found that 36 percent of likely voters support overturning the Hyde Amendment.

Interestingly, the poll also found that voters who make more than $75,000 were more supportive of forcing taxpayers to fund abortions (45 percent in favor), while those who make $25,000 or less were strongly against it (24 percent in favor). In other words, the people most likely to qualify for a Medicaid-covered, taxpayer-funded abortion are the ones who oppose it the most.

A January poll by Marist University found similarly strong opposition, with 75 percent saying they oppose taxpayer-funded abortions and 19 percent support it.
