Police arrested a group of abortion activists Sunday in Boston for throwing urine on a pro-life speaker and shoving another pro-life advocate.

The incidents occurred during the Massachusetts Citizens for Life annual march, where a record-breaking crowd demonstrated in defense of babies in the womb.

WBZ-TV Boston reports police arrested seven people after a small group of abortion activists clashed with the pro-life crowd.

C.J. Williams, community engagement director for the pro-life organization, told the Boston Herald that two men shoved her and shouted expletives at the crowd. She said she was setting up the sound system when the two men, who were much bigger than her, pushed her.

She said at another point, someone threw urine and a slushie on one of their speakers.

“Ironically when I tried to find common ground or start a conversation, it was men who blocked the dialogue,” Williams said in an email. “While the irony made for an interesting story, we hope next year’s discussion will be more civil.”

After the arrests, she said the march continued as planned.

The pro-life organization said they had record-breaking participation in the march this year. More than 600 people attended, according to the Boston Police Department.

“Despite clashes, our marchers maintained an open attitude towards dialogue, and literally turned the other cheek,” the organization said in a statement. “With over 600 marchers this year, and a lively encounter with the public — and the representatives of Planned Parenthood and NARAL — this year’s march is one for the history books.”

This year, there has been an alarming uptick in violence, threats and other incidents against pro-life advocates. Last week, during a pro-abortion rally in Mississippi, a video showed abortion activists hit a pro-life man with a cane and push him.
