Actress Anne Hathaway Slams “White Women” for Being Pro-Life: They Just Hate Black Women

One of Americans’ favorite actresses blasted pro-life “white women” Saturday for leading state efforts to protect unborn babies from abortion.

Anne Hathaway (“Princess Diaries,” “Les Miserables”) defended abortion on Instagram with a sign that read, “If you’re against abortion, don’t have one,” The Daily Wire reports.

Joining dozens of other rich, out-of-touch celebrities, Hathaway argued that pro-life laws are all about controlling women’s bodies.

“Yes the anti-abortion movement is primarily about controlling women’s bodies under the premise (for many, sincere) of saving lives, and yes this law is primarily the work of white men HOWEVER a white woman sponsored the bill and a white woman signed it into law,” she wrote.

It was a reference to Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey and state Rep. Terri Collins, a lead sponsor of the bill, both of whom are women. But the truth is that many pro-life men and women of all walks of life work to protect unborn babies and mothers from abortion. Town Hall’s Katie Yoder recently wrote a piece highlighting all the women who helped pass the new Alabama law that bans abortions on unborn babies starting at conception. Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., also recently praised Georgia and Alabama for granting “civil rights” to babies in the womb.

Hathaway went on, “As we’re resisting, let us also call out the complicity of the white women who made this awful moment possible, and which–make no mistake–WILL lead to the unnecessary and avoidable deaths of women, a disproportionate number of whom will be poor and/or black.”

She urged abortion activists to “speak up” and refuse to give up. The Academy Award winning actress ended her post by urging people to donate to Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups.

Hathaway is right about abortions disproportionately affecting the black community and women in poverty, but she is wrong about pro-life laws. Pro-life advocates enact laws to save unborn babies’ lives while also working to provide resources to empower women and their families. Across the country, more than 2,000 pregnancy resource centers provide material and emotional support to women in need.

Pro-life advocates do not want women to die any more than they want unborn babies to. That is why the pro-life movement works in numerous ways, through education, laws, material resources and more, to ensure that every life is protected and valued.
