Physically harming others – or speaking with the intent to spark bloodshed – for the sake of ending abortion is wrong. But that’s exactly what some in the media and Hollywood are accusing President Trump of following his most recent comments on abortion and infanticide.
President Trump’s latest remarks delivered in Wisconsin will “get someone killed” or inspire “people who murder doctors and patients,” according to entertainment figures like actress Sophia Bush and media figures from outlets like Rolling Stone. They particularly took issue with how President Trump called out Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers during a rally on April 27.
Democrats “are aggressively pushing extreme late-term abortion, allowing children to be ripped from their mothers’ womb right up until the moment of birth,” the president began. “Your Democrat governor here in Wisconsin shockingly stated that he will veto legislation that protects Wisconsin babies born alive [after an attempted abortion].”
Trump’s comments came after Governor Evers called his state’s new born-alive bill, which “could send doctors to prison for life if they fail to give medical care to babies born alive after a failed abortion attempt,” unnecessary because of “existing protections and criminal penalties,” the AP reported on April 23.
But this bill, AB 179, is “not the same” as past bills, according to Wisconsin Right to Life executive director Heather Weininger.
The new bill “will help health care providers understand the degree of care they must offer a baby born alive during a failed abortion,” she said in an April 23 press release. “It will also give guidance” for reporting violations to the “appropriate law enforcement agency.”

“The baby is born. The mother meets with the doctor. They take care of the baby. They wrap the baby beautifully. And then the doctor and the mother determine whether or not they will execute the baby,” he added. “I don’t think so.”
He credited Democratic Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia for introducing that idea. In January, the governor came under fire after suggesting leaving babies to die after birth in an interview.
“It’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus that’s nonviable. If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” Northam said. “The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Trump commented, “Until this crazy man in Virginia said it, nobody even thought of that, right?” before concluding that Democrats are the party of late-term abortion.
According to many in Hollywood and the media, Trump’s abortion comments were all lies – lies that would inspire bloody violence.
“Trump purposefully conflating infant palliative care with abortion is horrific,” actress Sophia Bush tweeted. “He is going to get someone killed. How is NO ONE WHO WORKS FOR HIM forcing him to stop lying!?”
For Rolling Stone, senior writer Jamil Smith added, “President Trump keeps telling the same lie about abortion doctors murdering healthy fetuses after delivery. This doesn’t happen. Yet he said it again last night. This is precisely the kind of hysteria that inspires people who murder doctors and patients.”
Carol Hartsell, the managing digital producer at Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, urged, “Eric Robert Rudolph bombed an abortion clinic in my home town over 20 years ago (killing a police officer, mind you) but cool, cool, cool that our president is doing his best to make sure there’s more where that came from.”
John Rogers, a TV writer and producer, stressed, “If you don’t think the clock is ticking down on some wingnut killing a NICU nurse or doctor because they’re being conflated with abortion providers, then you don’t know prime grade-A US Wingnut.”
Sports writer Nathan Bernhardt continued, “not merely content with inspiring synagogue shootings, Trump wants wide scale abortion clinic bombings back as well.”
Max Burns, a Democratic campaign strategist who has appeared on Fox News, tweeted, “Donald Trump will tell this cynical, disgusting lie until someone bombs another abortion clinic. And he’ll keep telling it after.”
But the president got one thing right: Democrats, particularly presidential candidates eyeing 2020, refuse to place limits on abortion.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was asked about abortions up until birth at a Pennsylvania town hall in April. He responded, “I think the decision over abortion belongs to a woman and her physician and not the government.”
When Democrat politician Beto O’Rourke from Texas was asked about third trimester abortions in March, he answered, “The question is about abortion and reproductive rights and my answer to you is that should be a decision that the woman makes.”
In February, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) told the Daily Caller of abortion, “I think it’s up to a woman to make that decision, and I will always stand by that.”
And those decisions do end lives – the lives of the unborn
