Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii has said a lot of crazy things over the years. One of her most famous is telling men to shut up.
But her comment today during a hearing on a bill that would ban late-term abortions may take the cake. Senator Hirono said her fellow members of Congress should quit worrying about babies who are killed in abortions and should instead focus on children who are here already. Never mind that unborn babies are already here.
“I hope that supporters of [the] bills we are talking about today — both in the states and in Congress — turn their efforts to improving the lives of the children who are very much here already and who are so poorly served by the Trump administration and his policies,” Hirono said.
