Planned Parenthood strikes once again. This time, the abortion chain is looking to repeal a law that protects women.
Wisconsin Public Radio reported on Wednesday that Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin filed a federal lawsuit seeking to repeal three state laws that restrict abortion.
The three laws in question include a law that prevents people who are not doctors (such as nurses) from performing abortions. The second law requires women who seek abortifacient drugs to visit the same doctor on two separate visits. The third law requires a doctor to be present when dispensing abortion-causing drugs.
The abortion industry’s goal is to make abortions more accessible across the state, especially in rural areas.
This case could be a decisive case for Wisconsin’s new Democrat Attorney General Josh Kaul. Though he was endorsed by an arm of Planned Parenthood, Kaul pledged to defend Wisconsin laws during his campaign in 2018.
In an email to LifeNews, officials with Wisconsin Right to Life responded to the lawsuit.
Wisconsin Right to Life Executive Director, Heather Weininger, told LifeNews: “With a pro-abortion governor and attorney general in office, it certainly didn’t take long for Planned Parenthood to look at another avenue for increasing their revenues from abortions.”

She added:
“Our concern for women and their safety has lead to sound legislation which a majority of the population supports. Now, Planned Parenthood is out to challenge protective, pro-life laws — laws that, in some cases, have been in place over 30 years. By challenging these common-sense laws that require doctors to perform abortions and limit access to deadly abortion drugs, Planned Parenthood is showing they have zero regard for women’s safety and want nothing more than to increase their profits by expanding abortion in our state.
“We also have great concerns over the defense of our long-standing laws with our current attorney general. Josh Kaul is pals with Planned Parenthood and received their support during his recent campaign. Will he really work to defend laws on the books that hurt the business of his friends at Planned Parenthood?
“Wisconsin Right to Life asks the leaders in the State Senate and Assembly to consider other options for the defense of our pro-life laws.”
This Planned Parenthood lawsuit is not the first of its kind. The abortion group partnered with pro-abortion Legal Voice in December 2018 to file a lawsuit attempting to repeal similar laws in Idaho that prevent nurses and midwives from performing abortions. Maine and Montana are facing similar lawsuits as well.
Planned Parenthood and the other groups filing these lawsuits claim that nurses can perform abortions safely. However, a study from the University of California San Francisco found that abortions done by non-physicians were twice as likely to suffer complications.
Similarly, abortion groups are trying to widen the number of people who perform abortions because doctors have been defecting from the life-destroying practice due to their consciences. According to the Guttmacher Institute, in 1982, there were 2,918 abortion doctors practicing in America, but by 2011, there were only 1,720.
In tandem with the abortion industry’s efforts to increase abortions, many pro-abortion groups have also encouraged women to perform “do-it-yourself” abortions, claiming it is “safer than ever before” to abort children at home.
