In a sickening dehumanization of life, a Wisconsin babysitter allegedly murdered an infant boy and then dressed him up to look alive when she returned him to his mother.
Marissa Tietsort, 28, of Wausau, Wisconsin, now faces first-degree murder charges in the infant’s death, the AP reports.
Tietsort allegedly told police that she “purposefully put a hat over the [baby’s] eyes so that the… mother would not realize her son was dead,” according to ABC News.
An autopsy report indicates the infant, a 2-month-old boy, died from multiple blunt force injuries to the head, according to authorities. However, Tietsort said she did not kill the boy.
The alleged crime occurred Oct. 18 when the boy’s mother dropped him off at Tietsort’s home.

About two hours later, the baby’s mother received a text from Tietsort, in which Tietsort told her that a local news website published a story saying she’d been charged with child abuse and she isn’t supposed to have contact with children. Tietsort told the mother not to tell anyone she was watching her two sons.
When the victim’s mother came to pick up her sons later, the infant was in his car seat with a hat pulled down over his eyes. The mother told police she thought he was sleeping, the complaint said.

The boy’s mother later realized her son was not breathing, cold and stiff. Officers arrived to find the boy had “ashen skin tone, his jaw was clenched and his lips were blue.”
ABC reports the mother tried to perform CPR on her son, but he already was dead.
When police questioned Tietsort afterward, she told them that she knew the boy was dead, but she did not kill him. Police said she also hid the boy’s death from her boyfriend, who arrived home before the baby boy was returned to his mother.
Police said Tietsort told them she did not “check for a pulse, she did not reach out for help and she did not perform any resuscitation efforts.”
“Tietsort admitted that she put the [baby’s] lifeless body on the floor in the hallway of her home, dressed him in the snowsuit and then placed his body in the car seat with his blankets,” police said.
In a separate incident, she also was charged with abuse of an 11-month-old girl who had injuries on her face after being in her care in August, People reports.
She is in jail, awaiting a Jan. 18 court appearance.
