One of the top abortion activists in the Senate has gone down in defeat.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill fell behind to pro-life candidate Josh Hawley after announcing her opposition to U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and ultimately she lost her re-election bid today. A pro-abortion Democrat, McCaskill was considered one of the most vulnerable senators running for re-election in the November midterms.

Josh Hawley, an attorney and former clerk to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, serves as Missouri’s attorney general. Prior to his time as the top prosecutor for the state, he was an appellate litigator and senior counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, where he was a lead attorney in the Supreme Court case Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores. He and his wife Erin have two young sons and live in Ashland, Missouri.

McCaskill’s vote against Kavanaugh doomed her chances. In response, Hawley accused McCaskill of not listening to her constituents.

“No surprise here. @clairecmc always comes home to the party line in the end. Now 0-6 on Supreme Court nominees. Hasn’t heard a thing voters told her. Just another Washington liberal,” he wrote on Twitter.

A week ago, an undercover video showed staffers on U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill’s campaign describing how Planned Parenthood sends money to her secretly so she will not look as pro-abortion to Missouri voters. The video, released by Project Veritas this week, shows how McCaskill’s campaign appears to be trying to appeal to moderate voters in the mid-western state by downplaying her radical pro-abortion stance.

“It’s f——- beautiful” how Planned Parenthood indirectly supports McCaskill’s campaign, one staffer tells an undercover investigator.

At another point, two staffers tell the undercover investigator why Planned Parenthood has not been a big supporter of McCaskill’s campaign, even though she has a 100-percent pro-abortion voting record.

“So what were you telling me last night about Planned Parenthood?” the undercover investigator asks.

“How they never — they don’t donate to Claire because they don’t want to ostracize pro-life Democrats in Missouri,” the staffer responds.

“They go through other means to support and give money. They just don’t directly give money from their PACs,” a second campaign staffer says of Planned Parenthood.

The Daily Wire reports McCaskill’s campaign also pointed out that the abortion giant did give her campaign at least $5,000.

The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund announced its endorsement of Josh Hawley for U.S. Senate in Missouri at a campaign event in Arnold, Missouri.

“Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is proud to endorse longtime pro-life champion Josh Hawley,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “Hawley’s experience as an attorney and advocate for life, including arguing cases before the Supreme Court, will prove invaluable in the Senate. We are encouraged to see him take on Senator Claire McCaskill, who supports abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy and has repeatedly betrayed her constituents on important pro-life votes. We encourage pro-life voters to send him to Washington to fight for their values.”

SBA List polling found that 60 percent of Missouri voters support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and 56 percent said they would be less likely to support Senator McCaskill if she voted to allow late-term abortion.
