When I think of some of the children who make life so wonderful, Chloe Kondrich immediately comes to mind.

Chloe is an amazing individual. Although she is still in high school, she has met President Donald Trump, Vice-President Mike Pence, state senators, state representatives, and a host of athletes, musicians, and other celebrities.

There is a You Tube video of Chloe reading a letter she received from her friend Vice President Pence.

She has even had her photo displayed in New York’s Times Square—a symbol of having “arrived.”

Chloe also has Down syndrome. But she has never let her diagnosis stand in the way of her dreams.

She even has her own law—“Chloe’s Law”—which ensures that parents with babies with Down syndrome have access to educational resources and support services.

Sadly, Chloe knows she is part of an endangered group. The vast majority of preborn babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted. In parts of Europe it is a badge of “pride” that their nation is nearly “free” of Down syndrome.

Yet, Chloe is eternally happy, knowing that she is changing people’s perceptions with each accomplishment.

What a treasure we have in children with Down syndrome. Let us keep on educating and advocating until all of them are protected.
