How Can Planned Parenthood Prez Leana Wen Celebrate “Being a Parent” and Oversee 328,000 Abortions?

Tip the hat to Grace Carr of the Daily Caller for a story she posted today. I don’t watch “The View” which is typically rabidly pro-abortion and harshly dismissive (to put it mildly) of opinions that differ.

So I watched in amazement at the clip that was embedded in Carr’s post. It began with a statement/question that Sunny Hostin, one of five cohosts asked Dr. Leana Wen, the incoming president of Planned Parenthood. Hostin was very polite but honest in her query:

” … Planned Parenthood provides more abortions, the most abortions than any other health care provider in the United States. And in fact, in, I think 2016, Planned Parenthood provided 328,348 abortions and in terms of emergency contraceptive kits, 730,329– that’s more than well women exams, pap tests, HPV vaccinations. Planned Parenthood doesn’t’ perform mammograms. But Planned Parenthood, I don’t think, is transparent about that. Planned Parenthood says it’s [abortions] only 3% of their services. The Washington Post has found that not to be accurate, has found it more like 12%, has given Planned Parenthood ‘Three Pinocchios’ for that. Why isn’t Planned Parenthood more transparent about its true position?”

Wen, of course, insisted Planned Parenthood is as honest as the day is long and practically transparent to a fault.

When another co-host brought up the concern that people (and not necessarily only pro-lifers) have that their tax payer dollars would pay for abortions, Wen showed how nifty she already is.

“Health care shouldn’t be political. Needing medications for your children isn’t political,” Wen responded disingenuously. Later, touching all the bases, Wen said, “I’m taking on this role, in part because I’m a new mother myself,” adding that “nothing has been more clarifying for me than being a parent.”

She also said her decision to lead Planned Parenthood isn’t political but “deeply personal.”
