New Movie Covers Kermit Gosnell’s Disgusting Collection: 47 Aborted Babies Kept as Trophies

Over at ‘Gosnell’ Trailer Calls Out Media Absence at Evil Abortionist’s Trial,” you’ll find Katie Yoder’s very nice introduction to the trailer for the forthcoming movie about West Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell who will spend the rest of his life in jail for murdering babies he consciously delivered alive and then murdered them by slitting their spinal cords.

Trailers are, of course, brief and intended to induce us to see this film, in this case coming out October 12 in as many as 750 theatres. Let’s talk about what this 1:57 long trailer tells us and why everyone should see the movie regardless of their position on abortion.

Right out of the chute we realize that when police invaded his Women’s Medical Society clinic in 2010, it had nothing to do with abortion and everything to do with what turned out to true: Gosnell was making a fortune illegally prescribing as many as 200 narcotic prescriptions a night.

When they walked in the door the smell was overwhelming. The place was an absolute pig-sty, as was every place that Gosnell worked or lived in. Where did the smell come from—besides the cat urine and fleas and blood-stained operating tables?Sam Gulino, the Philadelphia Chief Medical Examiner, would later testify about the “unprecedented” task of “examining bag after bag of frozen fetuses removed from Kermit Gosnell’s West Philadelphia abortion clinic.” Without guidance what to do, Gulino said

“he finally began opening the red and blue plastic bags that were crammed into Gosnell’s freezer and found the remains of 47 aborted fetuses ranging in age from 12 weeks – the end of the first trimester – to late second trimester and beyond the 24-week ceiling under Pennsylvania’s abortion law.

“Some were stored in makeshift containers such as a cut-down plastic distilled water jug or juice container. Other remains, body parts, were stored in cat and dog food containers.”

In the trailer, the actor who plays Gosnell (and looks uncannily like him), is serenely confident. When his lawyer tells him the district attorney has offered to plea bargain, Gosnell says no. He would “have to admit I’m guilty. I’m not guilty.”

The film will no doubt also show how when investigators later searched his home for fetal remains, Gosnell nonchalantly played Chopin and tried to joke with police. “As soon as they [his investigators] went down into the basement, they were covered in fleas,” Philadelphia Police crime scene investigator John Taggart told NBC 10. “He actually gave us a bottle of flea repellent and said, ‘See what a nice guy I am? I told you there were fleas in the basement.’ He said ‘I didn’t have to tell ya’s’”

There is this great line in the trailer where the prosecutor is warned “we’ll be swarmed with reporters.” In fact there were virtually no reporters in the court room in the beginning of the trial and the national media did not pick up on the story until a liberal columnist shamed them for evading what was a national story by any measure.

Two other quick thoughts, alluded to in the trailer.

First, as we’ve written more than once, according to Jack McMahon, Gosnell’s attorney, even the District Attorney (who was an African-American) was part of an “elitist, racist prosecution” of a man so kindly that he put Marcus Welby, MD, to shame.

Proof? “Dr. Gosnell is not the only one doing abortions in Philadelphia,” McMahon said, “but he was an African American singled out for prosecution.”

Fortunately, the jury ignored the demagoguery and listened to the testimony of Gosnell’s own staff.

Second, I’m betting the movie will bring home a fundamental truth.

The entire medical bureaucracy in Pennsylvania—and the Abortion Establishment, as represented by (among others) the National Abortion Federation—consciously turned a blind eye, in spite of overwhelming evidence of Gosnell’s illegal and incompetent behavior.

The only reason his bloody reign ever became known was because the feds were convinced Gosnell was illegally selling prescription drugs, particularly OxyContin, and raided his abortion clinic in West Philadelphia.
