Chelsea Clinton responded to pro-life advocates this week after facing criticism for linking legalized abortion on demand to $3.5 trillion in economic growth.
Among Clinton’s most bizarre responses was a claim that being “pro-choice is pro-life.”
Prompting the criticism were remarks Clinton made during a “Rise Up for Roe” rally protesting U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Saturday in New York City.
CNS News reports Clinton claimed the infamous 1973 U.S. Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade was a good thing, not only because it gave women the “dignity to make our own choices,” but also because it led to a $3.5 trillion boost to America’s economy.
“It is not a disconnected fact … that American women entering the labor force from 1973 to 2009 added three and a half trillion dollars to our economy. Right?” Clinton said.
Her comment about the financial benefit of 60 million unborn babies’ abortion deaths prompted a quick response from pro-life advocates online and the conservative news media.
But Clinton defended herself with more bizarre arguments Tuesday on Twitter.
“James- I am thankful to be my parents’ daughter (you misspelled Rodham), my kids’ mom & for my elementary to graduate school teachers for nurturing critical thinking. Pro-choice is pro-life. Finally, more on our health work at @ClintonFdn, @CHAI_health & @HealthierGen. Blessings,” Clinton wrote.

She also claimed she did not say the legalized killing of unborn babies led to $3.5 trillion in economic growth.
Hi Kevin- not what I said as you can see in the clip. To repeat: reproductive rights have always been economic rights. A recent study (https://t.co/LJXlD3zp3W) found denying women-often already mothers-a wanted abortion results in years of less employment & more family poverty. https://t.co/cZaEGLoVT6

Other tweets that Clinton posted Tuesday and Wednesday included a thanks to former Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards for her abortion advocacy for “women and families.”
These tweets were prompted by yet more responses from pro-life advocates, including Lila Rose of Live Action and African pro-life advocate Obianuju Ekeocha.
Actually, @ChelseaClinton – the population loss from abortion is devastating.
We have killed over 60 million Americans who would have added to the labor force.
Research shows the loss from abortion has THE SAME negative economic impact as war, epidemics, or natural disasters. https://t.co/QD6ohAgssj

Less abortions more poverty… this is what the elites tell us😏
[This is part of why Mummy lost the election of ‘16 btw👉🏾 no pro-life person could get themselves to vote for her] https://t.co/Pf7UmuEkAT

Like her mother and father, Chelsea Clinton has been a strong advocate for abortion on demand. While campaigning for her mother in 2015, she defended Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America, claiming, “We need to do everything we can to protect it.”
