A “progressive” California church plans to open a brewery in its worship space soon and donate the profits to the abortion giant Planned Parenthood.

CNA reports Greater Purpose Community Church in Santa Cruz recently sold its former building and plans to move to a new location.

That space will be used for Sunday worship services as well as a new brewery, which will donate some of its profits to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion group in America, according to the report.

Leader Chris VanHall described his ministry as a “progressive take on theology.” In his church, he said people sit down, have a drink and listen to his sermons in an atmosphere where they feel comfortable engaging in meaningful conversations.

VanHall made it clear that his church supports Planned Parenthood and abortion, the legalized killing of unborn babies.

“A woman’s right to choose is something most churches are silent on or opposed to, but that’s not where we stand in the faith community,” he told Good Times. “We hope to be an absolute conundrum for people walking by. A church that serves beer and gives the profits away to places like Planned Parenthood is really exciting to me.”

The report continues:

VanHall said that he also plans to split profits from the brewery and donate part of the proceeds to local non-profit organizations, such as Planned Parenthood, which has an office upstairs.

“I thought to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if a church could figure out a way to make a product where they split profits with local community service organizations?’ And we were like, ‘Hey, we love beer. We love making beer. Why not do a brewery?’” he outlined.

“Giving people the opportunity to ‘pour with a purpose’—knowing every pint you drink goes to a charitable cause—was very attractive to me,” he continued. “One of the most common things that bubbles up in conversation with nonprofits is their lack of funding.”

If VanHall did his research though, he would find that Planned Parenthood is not suffering financially. Its most recent annual report showed a record income of $1.46 billion, with about half a billion dollars coming from taxpayers. And its former CEO made nearly $1 million a year, allegedly by serving low-income patients from her posh Manhattan offices.

VanHall also criticized online commenters who lamented his support for abortion. He said their comments were “disgusting” and an indication that his “work is so important.”

But VanHall did not explain why he supports abortion. He is correct that some churches are silent on the issue, but many others strongly oppose it because they believe an abortion destroys a living, unique human being, made in the image of God.

According to Proverbs 6:16-17, one of the things that God hates most is the shedding of innocent blood. And it is hard to imagine any human being more vulnerable than a baby in the womb who is dependent on his/her mother for survival.

If this “progressive” church truly wants to make a difference, it should find worthy nonprofits that really help women and children – organizations like maternity homes, pregnancy centers, groups working to end human trafficking, homeless shelters and more These organizations help individuals and families, not destroy them.
