Speaking to the annual Southern Baptist Convention, Vice President Mike Pence praised President Donald Trump for working hard to protect unborn babies from abortion.

Pence, a strong pro-life advocate, spoke to a packed auditorium Wednesday in Dallas, Texas, RNS reports. The Southern Baptist Convention is the largest Protestant denomination in America.

“President Donald Trump is the most pro-life president in American history,” Pence said as the crowd stood in applause. “One of his very first acts in office: our president reinstated the ‘Mexico City policy’, denying any federal aid dollars to organizations that promote or perform abortions around the world.”

The move was a strong victory for babies and mothers across the world. The International Planned Parenthood Federation told ABC News it is losing an estimated $100 million in U.S. funding as a result of the policy. That means those tax dollars will be available for programs that provide true medical care and other essential aid to struggling families across the world.

Pence said the United States also withdrew from the United Nations Population Fund under Trump “in order to prevent our tax dollars from supporting forced sterilization or abortion overseas,” WIBC reports.

“We empowered states to defund abortion providers and it was my honor, as vice president, to cast the tie-breaking vote, to allow states across America to defund Planned Parenthood,” he continued.

The vice president also brought up the latest effort for life, RNS reports. Recently, the Trump administration introduced a policy that would prevent Title X family planning funds from going to groups that provide abortions. Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in America, receives about $60 million a year in Title X funds.

In reference to the recent summit with North Korea, Pence asked for prayers for the negotiations. North Korea has a horrifying record of forced abortions and other human rights abuses.

“I know, with your strong support in prayers, with Donald Trump in the White House and God’s help, we will make America safe again, we will make America prosperous again, and to borrow a phrase, we will make America great again,” Pence said.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, another strong pro-life advocate, also spoke during the convention.
