California sidewalk counselors dealt with a bizarre and distressing situation outside an abortion facility last week when a man claimed his unborn baby would be “reincarnated” if aborted.
California Catholic Daily shared the story from sidewalk counselors of Helpers of God’s Precious Infants San Diego. They asked for prayers for the man and his girlfriend who he was pressuring to have an abortion.
The sidewalk counselors said they met the couple while counseling outside an abortion facility earlier this month. One counselor said the young girlfriend approached them and seemed very interested in what they had to say.
They spoke for about 10 minutes, and the young woman said she was a Christian. She expressed interest in going to a local pregnancy center – until her boyfriend walked up.
“It was then that the boyfriend started arguing that while he believed in God, the Bible and Jesus wasn’t true, and that his girlfriend need not worry, because her baby would be re-incarnated, and that she would not feel guilty about having an abortion,” the counselor said.
The conversation quickly turned into a religious debate. The counselor said the boyfriend was “pushing hard” for the abortion, and his girlfriend began to cry.
“The boyfriend put his arm around her and started to coax her into going inside. Despite the counselor’s efforts to get her to leave, she walked up to the abortion center with her boyfriend by her side,” the pro-life group reported.
Outside, the sidewalk counselors began praying for the couple and their unborn baby. Eventually, the boyfriend walked out again and came toward the counselor. He said his girlfriend could not go through with the abortion.
A few minutes later, the young woman came out with an ultrasound image of her unborn baby and a desire to go to the pregnancy center, according to the pro-life group.

“They then took up the counselor’s offer to drive them to a nearby pregnancy resource center, where they spent the next 3 hours hearing about lots of options,” the pro-life group reported. “The girl was scheduled to return with her mom in the following week.
“The battle isn’t over yet, so please pray for this couple that they will continue to choose life for their unborn baby,” the group said.
