Franklin Graham Says Americans Need to “Wake Up to the Evil of Abortion”

Franklin Graham has become one of the strongest evangelical voices for life in America.

The son of evangelist Billy Graham, he recently expressed his outrage at a series of pro-abortion billboards in Ohio that describe abortion as “sacred” and a “blessing.”

“God says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,’” Graham wrote on Facebook. “That’s exactly what an abortion business in Ohio is doing.”

Graham described the pro-abortion billboards as “lies” and urged people to “wake up” to the destruction that abortion causes, Breitbart reports.

The billboards are a project of the Cleveland abortion facility Preterm. Each of the 16 billboards has a different phrases beginning with “Abortion is …” The endings include “a parenting decision,” “a blessing,” “liberty” and “your right.” Other phrases include “life-saving,” “necessary” and “a second chance.”

Graham provided his own suggestion on Twitter, “Here’s a billboard for them—‘Abortion is evil, because it’s murder.’”

Later, he continued, “Pray that America will wake up to the tragedy of children being killed through abortion every day in this nation.”

Nearly 60 million unborn babies have lost their lives to abortion since Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that allowed for abortion on demand up to birth. Every year, nearly 1 million abortions are performed in America. But that is not enough for abortion activists.

The Ohio abortion business coupled the billboards with a social media campaign, urging abortion activists to help them end the “stigma” of abortion.

“We want to push people to think about abortion in new, diverse ways with these billboards,” said Nancy Starner, director of development and communications for Preterm, in a statement. “We want the people in our community who have had abortions to know that they’re not alone.”

But, as Graham said, none of the billboards explain what an abortion actually is: the killing of a unique, living human being in the womb. In most cases, an abortion occurs after the unborn baby’s heart already is beating.

Graham has been vocal opponent of Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion business in America. He also has taken politicians to task for supporting the killing of unborn babies in abortions.

“Sin has an enormous price,” he said in 2015. “Our nation will one day have to answer to God for the millions of innocent lives taken by abortion, and that applies to every politician who voted for and defended abortion. Thankfully though, no sin is too great for God’s forgiveness — even murder.”

Graham also is a strong advocate for children, born and unborn, throughout the world. His charity, Operation Christmas Child, has donated 146 million shoe-box-sized Christmas packages to children in 150 countries in the past 20 years. Boxes include everything from school and hygiene supplies to stuffed animals, toy cars and dolls. The organization donates boxes to children suffering from poverty, war, disease or natural disaster.
