A former Kansas prison employee is facing more than a dozen sexual assault charges after he allegedly had sex with multiple inmates and helped pay for one to abort their unborn baby.

The AP reports Lexington Laiter, 27, of Garnett, Kansas allegedly had sex with five inmates while he worked at the Anderson County Jail in eastern Kansas.

Authorities said Laiter was fired in December 2016 because he brought tobacco into the facility. He had worked there since 2013, according to the report.

According to court records, he had sex with five inmates and got one pregnant in 2015. The woman told authorities that she had an abortion and Laiter gave her $500 to help pay for it.

Here’s more from the report:

The arrest affidavit for Lexington Laiter, 27, of Garnett, was released this week. Laiter is jailed on $250,000 bail in Osage County after he was charged last month in neighboring Anderson County with 11 counts of unlawful sexual relations and two counts of attempted unlawful sexual relations.

Whether the women consented or not, Laiter was in a position of authority over them. And there is a sixth alleged victim who will never receive justice – the unborn baby who was aborted.

Unborn babies are unacknowledged second victims of crimes, often sexual assault. Even if the woman was at the earliest stage of pregnancy, her unborn baby already was a living human being with his or her own unique DNA. By the time most women have abortions, their unborn baby’s heart already is beating, too.
