MSNBC Host Complains: Quit Calling Planned Parenthood an “Abortion Factory”

MSNBC hosts Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle look like they get their talking points right from the abortion giant Planned Parenthood.

On Thursday, the news show hosts praised the abortion chain and criticized pro-life advocates for drawing attention to its No. 1 priority, the Free Beacon reports.

“We have framed this whole thing as Planned Parenthood being an abortion factory, but in fact, for many women, it is primary health care,” Velshi said.

Ruhle responded: “For millions of women, it’s their primary health care! You know, we like, people like to give the quick and dirty, ‘Planned Parenthood stands for abortion.’ It doesn’t, it stands for women’s basic health.

“When women think about their basic health, that’s the doctor they consider,” she continued. “My husband can tell you everything he knows about his cholesterol, about his heart rate—he knows all those things. When he gets the flu, he has a doctor to call. Women, it is their OB-GYN, and to say we’re going to defund Planned Parenthood, that’s millions of Americans.”

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately

A simple analysis of Planned Parenthood’s own annual reports shows a completely different story. Its patient numbers are dropping. Its taxpayer funding and abortion numbers are up. And the services it offers to patients, other than abortions, are declining.

The abortion group does not offer much of anything for women who want to get pregnant or are pregnant already and want their babies. A recent undercover investigation by Live Action revealed that dozens of Planned Parenthood facilities across the country did not offer any help to women seeking prenatal care, ultrasounds or adoption information.

The investigation videos illustrated what Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report shows: its 328,348 abortions in 2015 vastly outnumbered its 9,419 prenatal services and 2,889 adoption referrals. The chain aborted nearly 114 children for every one baby it referred out for adoption in 2015.

Its patient numbers, contraception services, breast exams and cancer screenings are down, too, despite receiving taxpayer funding increases under President Barack Obama’s administration.

Planned Parenthood performs more abortions than any other group in the United States. The abortion chain even encourages its centers to do more abortions by rewarding employees with pizza parties and awards for “for exceeding abortion visits.”Abortions are Planned Parenthood’s top priority – above regular ob-gyn care, above cancer screenings and STD treatments, above contraception. And the news media do not need to do a lot of investigative digging to figure this out.
