Singer Halsey Claims Women Will Die Because Trump Defunded Intl Planned Parenthood

Grammy-nominated singer Halsey released a new video this week, claiming that women will die because President Donald Trump cut off funding to Planned Parenthood’s international arm.

Townhall reports Halsey partnered with the pro-abortion Center for Health and Gender Equity to create the video bashing Trump and his pro-life policies.

She argued that international abortion groups could save lives with millions in U.S. taxpayer funding, though she did not provide any evidence of this; and she completely ignored the fact that abortions destroy unique, living unborn babies.

Trump, in one of his first acts as president, signed an executive order prohibiting U.S. taxpayer funding to groups that promote or perform abortions overseas. The Mexico City Policy, a Reagan administration policy that Trump reinstated on Jan. 23, makes it so family planning funds only can go to groups that will not do abortions or lobby foreign nations to overturn their pro-life laws.

The policy does not stop non-abortion international assistance. It ensures U.S. foreign aid will continue to go to health care and humanitarian relief. It just will not subsidize abortions overseas.

The move outraged abortion activists. Describing it as a “gag order,” many falsely claimed women will be hurt by the pro-life policy.

Halsey reiterated the typical, pro-abortion talking points in her new video, saying: “It’s part of an overall pattern and plan to deny women in the US and abroad their right to choose what happens to their own bodies. None of us are free until all of us are free.”

She continued: “Trump took a failed, deadly policy first introduced by the Reagan administration and rescinded by every Democratic president since and made it worse. The gag rule shuts down funding for services like HIV prevention or contraception if providers so much as advise a patient on where to get an abortion.

“The result? Women die,” she claimed.

Planned Parenthood Vice President Dawn Laguens said almost the exact same thing in January when Trump signed the order.

But research indicates abortions do not save women’s lives. They only hurt women and destroy their unborn babies.

Several studies have shown that countries with pro-life laws have some of the lowest maternal mortality rates. In Ireland, where abortions are illegal, maternal mortality rates are among the lowest in the world. Researchers found similar occurrences in Poland, Chile and Malta. This data contradicts the pro-abortion myth that legalizing abortion saves women’s lives and reduces maternal mortality.

Yet, in the name of “health care,” under the Obama administration, Planned Parenthood and other abortion advocacy groups used American tax dollars to promote the mass slaughter of millions of unborn babies across the world.

No one knows exactly how many unborn babies are aborted every year in the world. Some research groups put the number at about 50 million, but others say the number likely is smaller. It also is not clear how many unborn babies were killed in abortions with U.S. taxpayer dollars after the Obama administration got rid of the Mexico City Policy, previously in place under President George W. Bush.

Abortion is not healthcare. Killing an unborn child and telling a vulnerable woman that it will solve her problems is not healthcare. True healthcare recognizes that there are two patients involved when a woman is pregnant, and both deserve the best treatment and care.
