Pediatrician Holds Party to Celebrate Planned Parenthood: Abortion is “Essential for Our Children”

A Pittsburgh pediatrician known for her research and work with children who have been abused also happens to be an abortion advocate.

Dr. Rachel Berger, a physician at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, hosted a party for the Planned Parenthood abortion chain at her home Saturday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Berger also is the chief of the hospital’s Child Advocacy Center, which provides services for children who may be victims of abuse or neglect, and director of child abuse research.

“We’ve supported Planned Parenthood for a long time and as a pediatrician, their services are essential for our children and families,” Berger told the newspaper.

Here’s more from the report:

The Bergers’ home was transformed into party central as hundreds of guests including Lynn Cullen, Betsy Teti and daughter Julia, Ed Scheid, Richard Parsakian and Kim Patterson lent their support to Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania. The organization celebrated 100 years in style with music by the Matto Quartet, Pesaro Quartet and a special performance by Anqwenique Wingfield & Band. And no birthday party would be complete without a beautiful cake! …

“Why wouldn’t you support this organization?” said Jatolloa Davis, a midwife from The Midwives Center. “Women need to have control over their bodies and health and PP is that answer, regardless of income.”

It’s deeply concerning to see midwives and pediatricians support a group whose focus is not on helping children but on aborting them before they are born.

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately

Planned Parenthood’s real health care services for children are basically non-existent. The abortion chain does not even allow women to bring their born children into its facilities.

The main “service” involving children that Planned Parenthood provides is abortion. In 2015, Planned Parenthood performed 328,348 abortions, nearly 5,000 more than the previous year. That same year, its prenatal services dropped almost 50 percent to 9,419, and adoption referrals, while up slightly, remained extremely low at 2,889.

Planned Parenthood does not help children. It destroys their lives in brutal, gruesome ways.

With so many wonderful non-profits that are dedicated to helping children both before and after they are born, it’s difficult to understand why pediatricians and midwives would support a group that aborts them. Every child’s life begins at the moment of conception, and every child deserves a chance at life. If anyone should know this, pediatricians and midwives should.
