Vice President Mike Pence will be the keynote speaker at a major pro-life Gala next month. The pro-life vice president will headline an event for the national pro-life group Susan B Anthony list the first week in May.
The event will take place Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. It takes place after Pence broke a tie in the Senate to pass a bill allowing states to defund the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
The keynote address is six years after he gave the keynote address at the same event as a U.S. Representative in 2011.
“We are honored to have our good friend Mike Pence return to keynote our annual Gala as Vice President of the United States. It is a fitting homecoming for him, showing how far both he and the pro-life movement have come and how much we have accomplished together,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Unborn children and their mothers could not have a stronger ally at President Trump’s right hand to help carry out the pro-life agenda he has promised. Mike Pence has been an unflinching pro-life champion throughout all his years of public service. He understands that not only is standing up for life the right thing to do, it is a winning issue.”
Leonard Leo, Executive Vice President of The Federalist Society, will receive SBA List’s 2017 Distinguished Leader Award and U.S. Senator Steve Daines of Montana will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

Dannenfelser continued, “We are also proud to celebrate the leadership of Leonard Leo of The Federalist Society. Not only has he built the nation’s largest, most influential network of constitutionalist lawyers and judges, Leonard and his team were instrumental to one of the Trump Administration’s first and most significant pro-life victories, the appointment of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. We look forward to celebrating Leonard and honoring him for his lifelong commitment to the Constitution and the fight for equal rights for the most vulnerable among us.”
Previous Campaign for Life Gala keynote speakers include Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN), Sen. Fred Thompson (R-TN), and Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA).
Then-Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) sponsored more than two dozen pro-life bills in the U.S. House of Representatives, including legislation to stop taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business. As Governor of Indiana, Pence signed four major pieces of pro-life legislation, including a bill protecting unborn children from lethal discrimination for disabilities. This year he became the first sitting Vice President to speak at the annual March for Life.
