A pregnancy center in California lost thousands of dollars worth of items after thieves broke in last week, California Catholic Daily reports.
Leaders of High Desert Pregnancy Clinic in Yucca Valley, California estimated they will need to replace more than $10,000 worth of electronic equipment and other items as a result of the burglary.
The thieves broke in sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning last week, according to the report. The local sheriff’s department is investigating, Z 107.7 News reports.
Executive Director Brandi Hale said she noticed the break-in on Wednesday morning and called the local authorities. She said the burglars forced open the door and took computers, printers, a sound system, televisions, pregnancy tests, baby boy clothes and about $3,000 worth of checks from donors. They also took a candy machine and stroller, which authorities later found destroyed in a nearby parking lot, the report states.
The pregnancy center leaders said they continued to see clients on Wednesday, but they lost their donor records, appointment schedules and more on the computers.
“What the devil means for harm, God will turn to good. God will bring something good for us and for His glory out of this,” pregnancy center board President Sandra Dell told the Catholic news outlet.
In a post Friday on Facebook, they said the community already has responded with strong support.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support after our recent burglary at the clinic. The police are investigating and we are confident God will bring us through this trial. We have received donations of TV’s, VCR’s, and a few laptops and a couple of printers so we are working at getting them all checked out and then we should be back in business sometime next week we hope! We still have over $10,000 of items to replace over time, but we know God will provide. We want to be there to assist all the women and families who need us so we are working hard to get there. Thank you for those who are bringing in donations of cash and checks and going online to our website an donating. You are truly amazing and our community is amazing.
According to the report, the pregnancy center provides free, confidential help to more than 100 pregnant and parenting women each month.
