A new book about abortionist and serial killer Kermit Gosnell debuted as the third bestselling book on Amazon this week and quickly sold out. But the New York Times bestseller list is not recognizing the book’s success, according to its publisher.

The Washington Examiner reports the book “Gosnell: The Untold Story of America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer” by Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer became the fourth bestselling hardcover nonfiction title this week in the U.S., but the New York Times has not acknowledged it.

The publisher, Regnery Publishing, accused the newspaper of snubbing the book because it focuses on Gosnell’s horrific abortion practices.

Co-author Phelim McAleer told LifeNews.com he is “furious” by the actions of the liberal newspaper.

“I’m furious that they are excluding this book. It’s doubly ironic that the book looks how the media initially ignored the trial because of bias and now that same media is ignoring the book that exposes their bias,” McAleer said. “They are a fake news paper with a fake best sellers list.”

The Blaze reports more about the situation:

While the Times did place “Gosnell” on their “Combined Print & E-Book Best Sellers” list at no. 13, they did not include the book on their nonfiction “Print Hardcover Best Sellers” list, although its publisher, Regnery Publishing, said it outsold all but three nonfiction hardcover titles.

The new book describes the former Philadelphia abortionist and his “house of horrors” abortion practice, his trial and conviction, and his maintained belief of being innocent.

In 2013, a jury convicted Gosnell of murdering three newborn babies and contributing to the death of a female patient, along with numerous other crimes. For many weeks, however, Gosnell’s trial received little mainstream media attention.

McElhinney told the Examiner that this latest snub from the New York Times (widely considered to be “the newspaper of record”) is just more evidence of the mainstream media’s “cover-up” of the horrors that take place in the abortion industry.

“The media doesn’t want this story to see the light of day because it shines a negative light on abortion,” she said. “It’s clear that this is a blatant fake list in a fake news newspaper. It’s not only an insult to the people who have bought this book, but an insult to the readers of the New York Times who buy the newspaper and think they are getting the truth about book sales across America but instead get false facts disguised as a neutral list.”

McAleer and McElhinney also produced a film about Gosnell; however, they have run into problems finding a distributor.

“Gosnell has scored off the charts at test screenings. It has been overwhelmingly popular with audiences. It broke records in crowdfunding – almost 30,000 people paid for it to be made but Hollywood is ignoring it,” McAleer told LifeNews.

“Test audiences in their feedback have cried and praised the storytelling but also praised the movie Gosnell for its accessibility,” McElhinney added.

The Gosnell movie is currently in post-production and will likely be released independently since the “cover-up” is hampering efforts to release and distribute it.

“This is one of the biggest crime sprees in American history,” McAleer told Brietbart. “The book and movie will ensure that the coverup is ended and the truth will be known.”

Gosnell currently is serving three life sentences in the Huntington Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania.

In a 30-year killing spree, he is thought to have killed hundreds, perhaps thousands of babies. However, investigators said he destroyed most of the evidence that possibly could have led to further convictions.

According to court testimony, Gosnell would perform illegal abortions on late-term unborn babies, inducing live births and then stabbing the babies in the backs of their necks with scissors to kill them.
