Planned Parenthood sent profuse thanks to President Barack Obama this week on Twitter as the president concludes his eight years in office.
Obama has been a close ally to the abortion industry throughout his two terms, defending Planned Parenthood after it was caught selling aborted babies’ body parts, giving it more taxpayer funding, and welcoming its CEO to the White House on dozens of occasions.
This week, the abortion business expressed its gratitude in a series of tweets to President Obama, his wife, Michelle, and Vice President Joe Biden, Breitbart reports.

Obama once said, “God bless Planned Parenthood” at a speech for the abortion group in 2013. Then in 2014, he told abortion activists that they are “doing God’s work.” It was not long before pro-lifers began describing Obama as the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history.
During his first week in office, Obama made it clear that he would defend abortion when he prioritized overturning the Mexico City Policy. The pro-life policy, in place under George W. Bush, required more than 600 groups that receive State Department taxpayer funding to pledge not to promote or perform abortions with the money. Abortion advocates objected to the measure for years because they want to use the funds to do abortions overseas or lobby pro-life nations to reverse their laws against unlimited abortions; and Obama answered their demands
He went on to weaken conscience protections for health care workers and to appoint two pro-abortion U.S. Supreme Court justices. And his legacy legislation, Obamacare, has been damaging to religious individuals and unborn babies alike. Despite promises that the health care law would not fund abortions, a Government Accountability Office report found massive new public funding of abortion in the president’s healthcare law.
Under Obama, the Department of Health and Human Services also tried to force religious business owners and organizations like Little Sisters of the Poor to pay for drugs that may cause abortions and contraception as part of their employee health care plans. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against HHS, sparing the religious individuals from being forced to violate their beliefs.
Obama and his administration also fought to protect Planned Parenthood amid numerous scandals. After an undercover investigation revealed that Planned Parenthood may be illegally selling aborted baby parts, many state and federal legislators moved to defund the abortion group. Obama blocked the efforts, vetoing a federal defunding bill and later enacting a new rule that basically blocks states from defunding the abortion chain.
Recently, the Obama administration also refused to act against a California law that is forcing churches to pay for abortions through their employee health care plans in violation of the Weldon Amendment. In June 2016, the Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights stated it found no violations and closed its investigation of the matter.
Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards has been a close friend of the Obamas, too. According to CNS News, Richards made 39 visits to the White House between 2009 and July 2015.
Despite Obama’s eight years of abortion advocacy through the highest office in the land, abortion rates have dropped to record lows. Obama, Planned Parenthood and the rest of the abortion industry were unable to stop the strong, grassroots pro-life movement from enacting a record number of pro-life laws in states across the country. They could not stop pro-life sidewalk counselors and pregnancy centers from offering women education and support to help them choose life for their babies. They could not stop modern technology from demonstrating the value of babies in the womb.
The next four years under President-elect Donald Trump’s administration are expected to bring many more losses to the abortion industry – losses that really are wins for unborn babies, moms, dads and the whole of American society.
