Senate Introduces Budget Resolution That’s the First Step to Defunding Planned Parenthood

Following November’s presidential election that saw Americans elect a president who has promised to sign a bill that would defund the Planned Parenthood abortion business, pro-life voters have been anxious to get going on the process.

With a president in Donald Trump who has said the nation’s biggest abortion company should be defunded unless it stops killing 300,000 unborn children in abortions, and with a Congress that has already passed legislation to defund Planned Parenthood, pro-life Americans will be sorely disappointed if the defunding legislation is not ultimately approved and signed into law.

But yesterday the U.S. Senate took the first step in paving the way for a vote on defunding the Planned Parenthood abortion corporation.

The U.S. Senate Budget Committee unveiled a budget resolution bill. This repeal resolution is the first step in the process to re-direct Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding to legitimate health care entities and repeal Obamacare using the budget reconciliation procedure. The repeal resolution is expected to reach the Senate floor next week, followed by the U.S. House.

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelsertold LifeNews.com: “We urge Congress to swiftly pass the budget resolution so they can pass a reconciliation bill that re-directs abortion giant Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding to community health centers.

She added: “Community health centers provide the same services Planned Parenthood does, but do not perform abortions or harvest fetal body parts. They far outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities by a 20:1 ratio. Re-directing the abortion giant’s taxpayer funding will fulfill a major pro-life commitment made by the President-elect to end Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding as long as they continue to perform abortions.”

During the campaign, Trump said “I am committed to defunding Planned Parenthood as long as they continue to perform abortions and reallocating their funding to community health centers that provide comprehensive health care for women.”

Earlier in the campaign, Trump specifically promised he would sign a bill as president to de-fund Planned Parenthood. In an interview with David Brody of CBN, Trump made that promise:

David Brody: “As a President Trump, if a bill came to your desk that would defund Planned Parenthood you would support that, you would sign that?”

Donald Trump: “Yes, because as long as they do the abortion I am not for funding Planned Parenthood… As long as they’re involved with abortion, as far as I’m concerned forget it, I wouldn’t fund them regardless. I would defund Planned Parenthood because of their view and the fact of their work on abortion…. I am for defunding Planned Parenthood as long as they are involved with abortion.”
