Daily Show Suggests Giving Birth Control as Christmas Gift for Women

The Daily Show likes to pick on pro-lifers and conservatives, and they have not offered any peace from it this holiday season.

In an effort to bash the in-coming Trump administration, the liberal comedy show recommended that people give four years worth of birth control to the special women in their lives this Christmas, Breitbart reports.

The show suggested that a perfect Christmas gift for a woman might be a closet full of Plan B pills, a four-year supply of birth control pills or a velvety jewelry box with an IUD inside – any of which could cover women’s birth control needs during President-elect Donald Trump’s four years in office, according to the report.

The supposition is that women will not be able to get birth control after Trump takes office, supposedly because he promised to sign a bill de-funding the abortion chain Planned Parenthood.

Here’s more from Breitbart:

Continuing the abortion lobby’s false narrative that birth control will no longer be available to women once Donald Trump is inaugurated, The Daily Show’s segment “The Gift of Reproductive Rights” features an interview with Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Raegan McDonald-Mosley. The abortion chain’s chief medical officer reports she has seen a “900 percent increase in birth control appointments, especially for IUDs,” since Trump was elected last month.

Since one of the goals of Planned Parenthood is to make women dependent on the government for “free” birth control, their advocates are fighting any suggestion that women take responsibility for their own bodies and pay for their own birth control.

Later, Breitbart’s Dr. Susan Berry pointed out the ridiculousness of this claim:

Birth control, however, can cost as little as under $10 per month when savvy women consumers who want to use artificial contraception scout out the best prices and coupons on websites such as GoodRx and WeRx.

While Planned Parenthood and its supporters insist its affiliates provide services to low-income women that can’t be received elsewhere, states that have passed laws eliminating Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding have redirected it to federally qualified healthcare centers (FQHCs) that actually provide more comprehensive services. Nationally, there are 13,000 FQHCs – a figure that outnumbers Planned Parenthood facilities by 20 to 1.

The Daily Show also ignores the real reason why so many people want Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding to go away – abortion.

The abortion chain aborts more than 320,000 unborn babies every year, more than any other group in the nation. It also receives approximately $550 million in tax money every year. That tax money is not supposed to be used for abortions, but evidence indicates that it is.

In the past month, two separate U.S. House and Senate committees have referred several of the abortion group’s affiliates for criminal prosecution for selling aborted babies’ body parts. It also has been caught in numerous scandals involving possible Medicaid fraud and failures to report sexual abuse of minors.

The November election results signal that Americans believe it’s time to stop subsidizing a group whose practices center around killing hundreds of thousands of unborn babies a year.
