If you’re a fan of The National, you may want to pause before buying their music. The indie rock band said it plans to donate a portion of its online store sales to the abortion chain Planned Parenthood.

“While much social progress has been made in the past, we are entering an era where basic liberties are in jeopardy,” the band wrote Wednesday on Twitter. “It’s more important than ever to take action to ensure that none of our voices are silenced and that none of our liberties are obstructed.”

The band said the profits from its online store sales, retroactive to Black Friday, will go to Planned Parenthood and several other groups, which also are pro-abortion.

Reactions from their fans were mixed. Some online fans applauded the move, while others pointed out that the band is silencing voices by supporting the abortion chain Planned Parenthood, which destroys more than 320,000 unborn babies’ lives every year.

Brooklyn Vegan reports The National frontman Matt Berninger was a strong Hillary Clinton supporter during the election.

Celebrity donations to the abortion chain have become a trend since Donald Trump won the presidential election last month. Singer Katy Perry was one of the first, announcing just a few days after the election that she donated $10,000 to Planned Parenthood. Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the hit Broadway show “Hamilton,” was another.

The abortion chain currently receives about half a billion taxpayer dollars every year, despite performing about 320,000 abortions annually – more than any other group in the United States. Pro-abortion President Barack Obama blocked recent efforts to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of undercover videos exposing its baby body parts harvesting trade.

Defunding the abortion chain seems like a very real possibility with Donald Trump in the White House and Republican majorities in the House and Senate.

Though Trump has made some positive comments about Planned Parenthood, he consistently has said he would sign legislation to defund Planned Parenthood as long as it keeps doing abortions.

Planned Parenthood has been caught in numerous scandals involving potentially illegal sales of aborted babies’ body parts, possible Medicaid fraud and failures to report sexual abuse of minors. The tax money Planned Parenthood receives is not supposed to be used for abortions, but evidence indicates that some of its abortion facilities are.
