With the latest set of reports from local 40 Days for Life campaigns, we are now aware of 410 babies whose mothers turned away from abortion.
And that means since the first coordinated 40 Days for Life campaign began nine years ago, our leaders have told us 12,206 lives have been spared in all! Praise God!
Praying outside an abortion center may sound like an unusual way to pass the time. But the Lord hears those prayers – and responds!
“Justfound out we have had a total of seven babies saved so far this campaign,” said Kathy, the local leader in Memphis.
The mother told volunteers she just couldn’t have another child. The father said they could not support them. After a bit of discussion, though, the father began to understand. “He got it,” the volunteer said.
They did not have the abortion.
People going into Planned Parenthood are responding to the simple question, “Can I pray with you?”
One woman answered “yes,” and prayed – then talked with – vigil participants. She told them, “I am here for an abortion, but I just can’t do it. I went inside – there are so many sad people in Planned Parenthood.
Another volunteer got a response from the sign she carried: “Pregnant? Need help? Ask me!” A woman who arrived with her two daughters saw that and called out, “Where can I get help?”
She was directed to a pregnancy center that offers assistance – and positive options.
“We are so humbled and blessed to see what God is doing,” Kathy said.
California is always a very strong area for 40 Days for Life.
In fact, there are so many campaigns in California that it’s going to take four days to make our way through the state!
In Redding, California, we heard from a surgeon who was able to save someone’s life this week. But he told the gathered 40 Days for Life volunteers, “You all are saving many more lives than I do.”
The doctor also spoke of meeting an abortion-minded mother and introducing her to her baby through an ultrasound image. As a result, she chose life — then found him a year later to say thank you.
Anyone who feels that California is beyond hope wasn’t in Sacramento for the largest UNITED event yet- more than 300 people packed both sides of the street in the dark … and that doesn’t include the abortion center staffers who stood outside their workplace on a Sunday night to listen (and jeer).
When a speaker announced that California has the most abortions of any state in America — more than 181,000 per year — the abortion workers cheered. Their cheers turned to silence when it was announced that one of their co-workers had a change of heart and quit here last Friday!
Rally attendees heard from a dynamic high school pro-life club that has 50 members. They also listened to post-abortion testimonies, pregnancy center leaders, Jonathan Keller of the California Family Council, and Rebekah Buell, who shared her story of a successful abortion pill reversal. Her son, who survived, was present.
Today will be the busiest day of the entire tour, with six vigil stops across Northern California, a rally in San Luis Obispo … and Steve Karlen flying to the Alaska state rally in Anchorage!
