Pro-Abortion Actress Scarlett Johansson Calls Abortion a “Human Rights Issue”

Actress Scarlett Johansson couldn’t be more right that abortion is a “human rights issue,” but her position has a giant, fatal flaw.

In her opinion, abortion should be accepted as a “human right” for women; and unborn babies – though scientific research has long confirmed that they are indeed unique, living human beings from the moment of fertilization – do not deserve a right to life.

Johansson, well-known for her role as Black Widow in a number of comic book-based films, is a vocal advocate for abortion. This week, she received an award for her work with the Planned Parenthood abortion business at the 2016 Power of Women Los Angeles luncheon, according to Variety.

“A women’s right to choose what to do with her body shouldn’t just be a women’s rights issue — it’s the year 2016 and this is a human rights issue,” the actress told attendees.

“A women’s right to choose is a deeply personal one and should not be a part of anyone’s political platform,” Johansson continued. “It has nothing to do with politics in the slightest. It is about honoring and respecting women and upholding the law. … It is time we all stand united so this conversation is taken off the ballot, so to speak, and out of the mouths of politicians.”

Actor Robert Downey Jr., who played Iron Man in several films alongside Johansson, praised her for her abortion advocacy as he presented her with the award, according to the report.

“She’s utilized her worldwide visibility … she is a true ambassador for women’s health initiatives,” Downey said.

Abortion absolutely is a human rights issue, but Johansson’s and Downey’s position on abortion is the exact opposite of what it should be. Abortion denies human rights to the most vulnerable human beings in society. Biologically, babies in the womb are human beings from the moment of fertilization. They are alive, and they possess their own unique DNA. Abortions destroy these defenseless unborn babies’ right to life – often in a brutal, gruesome way.

The pro-life movement bases its position on scientific facts and argues that abortion is an abuse of human beings’ rights. Pro-lifers work to ensure that every human being indiscriminately receives equal protections and rights under the law.
