Mike Pence Bashes Hillary for Supporting Partial-Birth Abortion: How Can You Kill “a Child Almost Born?”

Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence went after Hillary Clinton’s pro-abortion positions last night in the vice presidential debate. He made it clear the pro-abortion Democrat strongly supports partial-birth abortions and using taxpayer money to pay for abortions.

Despite pro-abortion vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine’s desire to separate himself from Hillary Clinton’s pro-abortion views, Pence tied the two together. He said that while Kaine has historically opposed text her finding for abortions that Kaine is now supporting a presidential candidate who wants to force Americans to fund abortions.

“I think if you’re going to be pro-life you should be pro-adoption. But what I can’t understand is with Hillary Clinton and now the senator at her side — is to support a practice like partial birth abortion — and to hold to the view — I know Senator you hold pro-life views personally, but the very idea that a child that is almost born into the world could still have their life taken from them is just anathema to me,” Pence said. “I cannot have conscious about a party that supports that.”

“Or that – I know you have historically opposed taxpayer funding of abortion — but Hillary Clinton wants to repeal the long-standing provision in the law where we said we wouldn’t use taxpayer dollars to fund abortion. So for me, my faith informs my life. I tried to spend a little time on my knees every day. But it all for me begins with cherishing the dignity, the worth, the value of every human life,” Pence continued.

“It’s a principle that Senator Kaine — and I’m being very gentle about this because I really do respect you — it is a principle that you embrace and I have appreciated the fact that you have supported the amendment that bans use of taxpayer funding for abortion in the past — but that is not Clinton’s view,” Pence added. “People need to understand — we can come together as a nation. We can create a culture of life — more and more young people today are embracing life because we know we are — better for it.”

The Hyde Amendment that has prohibited the federal government from paying for abortions with taxpayer dollars has saved the lives of more than two  million unborn children.

The only problem? Hillary Clinton wants to overturn it.

Congress enacted the first Hyde Amendment on September 30, 1976. The Hyde Amendment has been passed every year since 1976 and has largely prevented federal Medicaid dollars from paying for abortions. The Supreme Court eventually upheld the Hyde Amendment and limits on taxpayer funding of abortions in 1980.

The Charlotte Lozier Institute, in a new report by Michael J. New, Ph.D., a visiting associate professor at Ave Maria University, tells LifeNews:

  • Over 20 studies in a variety of peer-reviewed academic journals demonstrate the Hyde Amendment and other laws to limit public funding of abortion reduce abortion rates and protect unborn children.
  • Multiple studies show that when the Hyde Amendment took effect, the birthrate among women on Medicaid increased by an average of about 13 percent. That means in U.S. states that do not fund abortion through Medicaid, one in every nine people born to a mother on Medicaid owes his or her life to the Hyde Amendment.
  • Since 1976, the best research indicates that the Hyde Amendment has saved over 2 million unborn children. This is roughly equal to the entire population of Houston, the fourth largest city in America. It is also roughly equal to the population of the entire state of New Mexico, and to the combined populations of the states of Rhode Island and Delaware.
  • The Hyde Amendment routinely saves more than 60,000 lives in the United States every year.
  • Since 1976, the Hyde Amendment has saved thousands of lives in almost every state. For example, 248,488 lives have been saved in Texas. In Florida, 165,613 lives have been saved. Over 100,000 lives have been saved in Illinois, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

But here’s the rub. Hillary Clinton wants to do away with the Hyde Amendment and make you pay for abortions.

SIGN THE PLEDGE! We Oppose Hillary Clinton!

Earlier this year, Clinton accepted the endorsement from the Planned Parenthood abortion business and promptly told a small contingent of abortion activists that she was ready to implement its marching orders.

During the rally, Hillary said abortion and abortion funding should be “defended both in principle and in practice.”

“Any right that requires you to take extra measures to access it is no right at all,” she continued as she listed a number of pro-life measures she opposes. “Not as long as we have laws on the books like the Hyde Amendment making it harder for low income women to exercise their full rights.”
