A young British man who raped and impregnated a young woman and then pressured her into aborting the unborn child was sentenced to seven years in prison this week, the Bucks Free Press reports.

The young rape victim, who is unnamed in the report, suffered through a horrific series of events and nearly committed suicide as a result of the trauma. In a statement to the court this week, the young woman said she was devastated by the abortion and still has nightmares about being raped.

Her abuser, Jordan Vaughan, 20, of Saxhorn Road, Lane End, was convicted of rape and sentenced to seven years prison this week, according to the report.

Two years ago, Vaughan raped the teen twice while they were on an isolated country road near High Wycombe, according to the report. Vaughan reportedly lured the young woman to the road, pulled her hair and forced her to have sex with him after they had an argument. On a second occasion, Vaughan forced the teen to perform oral sex on him and then abandoned her, the report states.

Here is more from the report:

In a victim statement read aloud to the court by prosecutor Ahmed Hossain, the young woman who was subjected to Vaughan’s attacks described how she would have nightmares about being raped and had been distraught after he pressured her into having an abortion.

The terrors became so severe that she thought she could not cope and decided to jump in front of a moving vehicle.

She said: “I wake up crying in the night and have panic attacks. I felt I couldn’t cope anymore and I saw a 4×4 and decided to step in front of it.

“My dad pulled me out the way and got hit himself.”

Vaughan’s lawyers said he has Asperger’s Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and a history of self-harm. The report described him as a former soccer coach and air cadet.

Abortion activists often bring up rape when they argue for the legalization of abortion; however, cases like these demonstrate how abortions often hurt victims of sexual assault even more – in addition to killing their unborn child, a second victim of the crime.

In some cases, abusers force their victims to have abortions to hide their crimes. In June, police arrested a Texas teacher who is accused of raping a 13-year-old male student and then aborting the unborn child who they conceived. In an Ohio case, a 22-year-old soccer coach impregnated a 14-year-old girl and then took her to Planned Parenthood for an abortion; he later was convicted of sexual battery.

Women who are victims of rape also have said that their abortion only increased their trauma. A survey by the Elliot Institute found that many of these women described their abortions as being similar to rape. Some even used the term “medical rape.”

One woman named Jackie shared: “I soon discovered that the aftermath of my abortion continued a long time after the memory of my rape had faded. I felt empty and horrible. Nobody told me about the pain I would feel deep within causing nightmares and deep depressions. They had all told me that after the abortion I could continue my life as if nothing had happened.”

Another woman, Kathleen, said rape victims often are used by the pro-abortion movement to push the issue, even though many choose life for their unborn children. A victim of rape herself, Kathleen said she chose to raise her child “conceived in rape” and she feels “personally assaulted and insulted” when people talk about abortions in cases of rape.

“I feel that we’re being used by pro-abortionists to further the abortion issue, even though we’ve not been asked to tell our side of the story,” Kathleen said.

The survey found that many rape victims who aborted their unborn babies did so because of pressure from parents, healthcare workers or the abuser.
