Another amazing photo of an unborn baby’s ultrasound scan is spreading across the internet and reminding people of the humanity of the unborn child.

Last week, pro-life mom Amy Jedrysek shared the image with Live Action News of her unborn baby waving during his 20-week ultrasound. Jedrysek hopes that the picture will help people realize that even in the womb, the baby is developing and thriving.

Along with the picture Jedrysek wrote: “This is an ultrasound picture of my son when I was six months pregnant with him. This is my favorite one out of all of my children in fact because it’s as tho he’s saying ‘Hi mom’!”

The ultrasound picture shows Jedrysek’s son at 20 weeks gestation, the point when many mothers begin to feel their unborn baby moving around.

Jedrysek continued: “Six months. Let that sink in for a min. The reason I’m sharing this is that this picture shows my son’s humanity without any question. Look at how clearly u can see his little hand and all 5 fingers. At six months pregnant, many women very sadly have abortions. And they are, for the most part, told that their ‘fetus’ isn’t really a person or is a clump of growing cells or any other term that is used to make a doctor and a woman feel less guilty for what they are doing.”

In the United States, abortion is legal up until 20 weeks in most states and even later in others. Unborn babies are considered viable outside the womb at 24 weeks, though new research is showing that many unborn babies are surviving even earlier thanks to modern medical advancements.

As Jekrysek described, it is imperative that women are educated as to the development of their unborn baby. For example, by 20 weeks, strong scientific evidence shows that the unborn child feels pain. Pro-life organizations, such as the National Right to Life Committee, continue the effort to ban abortion after 20 weeks and protect unborn babies from painful, later term abortions.

One leading expert in the field of fetal pain, Dr. Kanwaljeet S. Anand at the University of Tennessee, stated in his expert report commissioned by the U.S. Department of Justice: “It is my opinion that the human fetus possesses the ability to experience pain from 20 weeks of gestation, if not earlier, and the pain perceived by a fetus is possibly more intense than that perceived by term newborns or older children.”

Advances in medicine and technology have proven the humanity of the unborn child, however women are still told that their babies are “not a person.” Ultrasound images such as the one of Jedrysek’s unborn child allow mothers a glimpse at the humanity of the child.

“Look at this picture of my son’s little hand,” Jedrysek said. “He is a human being now that he is a 7 month old chubby faced baby, and he was a human being, waving to his mom, in this picture while he was safe in my body. Please find another way. Abortion kills the most innocent of human beings.”
