Abortion Activist Gripes “Donald Trump’s Party Just Adopted the Most [Pro-Life] Platform Ever”

Who’d thought, what are the odds, that yours truly would agree (for altogether different reasons) with Ilyse G. Hogue, President, NARAL Pro-Choice America, not once in one week but twice?

First, she bemoaned Donald Trump’s selection of pro-life Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, “perhaps the most anti-choice governor in America. … Pence is so extreme that he once said he ‘longs for the day that Roe v. Wade is sent to the ash heap of history.’ Politico once said, ‘Nobody hates Planned Parenthood quite as much as Mike Pence.’”

Then, there was that Republican platform plank on “Protecting Human Life.” Hogue lamented/warned/threatened, “Donald Trump’s Republican Party just adopted the most anti-choice party platform of all time. It’s like the wish list of the most radical anti-abortion extremists in America…”

Hmmm. We reposted the entire plank yesterday. So what makes it “the most anti-choice party platform of all time”?

Put more accurately, what makes the pro-life language adopted so threatening to NARAL/PPFA/EMILY’s List, etc.? Simple. “Protecting Human Life” is filled with ennobling language, a commitment to equality of all human beings, encouragement to pass legislation widely supported by the American people, and it exposes just how radically out-of-touch Democrats are on abortion.

Here are a few examples from “Protecting Human Life”:

#1. “We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life. We oppose the non-consensual withholding or withdrawal of care or treatment, including food and water, from individuals with disabilities, newborns, the elderly, or the infirm, just as we oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide.” The platform calls for judges who respect innocent human life and opposes starving helpless newborn babies just as it does assisted suicide.

Radical? Only to the likes of NARAL and Hillary Clinton.

#2. Speaking of infanticide, an issue pro-abortion Hillary Clinton would like to avoid, “We applaud the U.S. House of Representatives for leading the effort to add enforcement to the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act by passing the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which imposes appropriate civil and criminal penalties on healthcare providers who fail to provide treatment and care to an infant who survives an abortion, including early induction delivery whether the death of the infant is intended. We strongly oppose infanticide.”

As National Right to Life wrote in support the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, NRLC “believes that it is time for Congress to act decisively to put the entire abortion industry on notice that when they treat a born-alive human person as medical waste, as a source for organ harvesting, or as a creature who may be subjected to lethal violence with impunity, they will do so at grave legal peril.”

Radical? Only to the likes of NARAL and Hillary Clinton.

#3. “Over a dozen states have passed Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Acts prohibiting abortion after twenty weeks, the point at which current medical research shows that unborn babies can feel excruciating pain during abortions, and we call on Congress to enact the federal version. Not only is it good legislation, but it enjoys the support of a majority of the American people.”

Already on the books in 14 states, this law says you can’t slice away at unborn human beings capable of experiencing unimaginable pain, tearing them limb from limb until they bleed to death.

Radical? Only to the likes of NARAL and Hillary Clinton. Finally

#4. “The Democratic Party is extreme on abortion. Democrats’ almost limitless support for abortion, and their strident opposition to even the most basic restrictions on abortion, put them dramatically out of step with the American people. Because of their opposition to simple abortion clinic safety procedures, support for taxpayer-funded abortion, and rejection of pregnancy resource centers that provide abortion alternatives, the old Clinton mantra of ‘safe, legal, and rare’ has been reduced to just ‘legal.’ We are proud to be the party that protects human life and offers real solutions for women.”

The official position of the Democratic Party, which will be adopted next week in Philadelphia, is enthusiastic support for unbridled, unlimited, and unconstrained abortion on demand. The added twist is that the party will now formally adopt a platform plank that also explicitly says for the first time, “We will continue to oppose — and seek to overturn — federal and state laws and policies that impede a woman’s access to abortion, including by repealing the Hyde Amendment … ” (emphasis added)

There is a long-standing and overwhelming consensus that the public does not want its tax dollars used to pay for abortion. To the militantly pro-abortion Democrat Party, however, even something as firmly established as opposition to tax-funded abortion must be swept aside.

Is the Hyde Amendment “radical”? Only to the likes of NARAL and Hillary Clinton.
