Facebook Criticized for Changing Patricia Heaton’s “Celebrate Life” Message to “Anti-Abortion”

Facebook’s pro-abortion bias is showing again.

After denying that it was censoring conservative news last week, Facebook proved once again that it does spin the top news of the day to fit its CEO’s left-leaning agenda. The example comes from Hot Air reporter Larry O’Connor who said the social media network mischaracterized a pro-life message from actress Patricia Heaton that went viral last week.

An Emmy award-winning actress on “The Middle” and formerly “Everybody Loves Raymond,” Heaton often uses her social media pages to speak out for unborn babies. Last week, Heaton shared her support of a Washington, D.C. pregnancy resource center’s work on her Twitter page:

The post was so popular that it became a trending news story on Facebook. However, the social media site didn’t use Heaton’s words; instead, it characterized her post this way, according to Hot Air: “Patricia Heaton: Actress Shares Anti-Abortion Message, Says ‘Support Life.’” “Is there anything in that message that is ‘anti-abortion’? Absolutely not,” O’Connor wrote. “She is celebrating and honoring an organization, the Northwest Center, which cares for pregnant women and their children after they are born. … That is political bias. That is what it looks like. This is what we are talking about.”

As LifeNews reported last week, a Facebook worker admitted to having suppressed conservative news stories in favor of articles from the liberal mainstream media. Contractors who worked as “curators” for Facebook’s trending topics section, which puts the top news stories at the fingertips of users of the social media web site, regularly censored stories trending among Facebook members who are conservatives, according to a report from Gizmodo.

Another former curator told Gizmodo that if a story originated on a conservative news website, like LifeNews.com, curators would look for a link to the story from a liberal media web site to place in the trending list instead. Such decisions would suppress traffic to web sites like LifeNews and other conservative and pro-life sites.

One of those stories was the shocking undercover videos that exposed the abortion giant Planned Parenthood selling aborted babies’ body parts, NewsbustersCurtis Houck reported.

LifeNews.com, which is the leading pro-life news web site on the Internet and the only one specifically devoted to pro-life issues, has long believed that Facebook has been suppressing its traffic. In recent months, other reports have surfaced that Twitter has also been deep-sixing content from conservative and pro-life sources.

Facebook officials have denied censoring conservatives, LifeNews reported. However, the company CEO is known for supporting abortion advocacy. In 2014, he donated $992 million to a charity funding Planned Parenthood.
