Starting May 2, a Planned Parenthood clinic in Wisconsin ended its service of providing contraception. Although the business brags about offering affordable reproductive health care to women, this facility will now only provide abortions.
The pro-life group Madison Vigil for Life said its volunteers recently discovered the new abortion-only focus of the Planned Parenthood on the east side of Madison, Wisconsin. The abortion clinic began listing “abortion services” only on its website on May 2, according to the group.
“It is confounding how an organization that claims that abortion amounts to only 3% of the services it provides can perform abortions full-time at the Orin Road location,” said Laura Karlen, the board president of Madison Vigil for Life. “We plan to offer abortion alternatives to women facing crisis pregnancies. They need hope and a helping hand, not abortion.”

Planned Parenthood is a business that profits on abortions. LifeNews previously reported on Planned Parenthood’s annual report for 2015. Although the most recent report only covered from 2014 to June 2015, it revealed shocking numbers concerning abortions. Clinics affiliated with the Planned Parenthood Federation of America performed 323,999 abortions in 2014 alone, more than any other group in the U.S., according to the report.
Although Planned Parenthood’s CEO Cecile Richards insists that the business isn’t all about abortion, in 2013 they mandated that their 85 affiliates operate an abortion center. Senior vice president of Health Services Support for Planned Parenthood Lisa David confirmed the mandate in an interview.
Why would Planned Parenthood mandate abortion centers from all its clinics? Planned Parenthood receives a great deal of its money from abortions. The Madison Vigil for Life describes the exact amount of money the organization receives for their abortions:
According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, the average cost for an abortion with local anesthesia is $480 when the baby has developed for 10 weeks in the womb. Before 10 weeks’ gestation, the average chemical abortion costs $504. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin reported in its 2015 Annual Report that it performed 4,056 abortions between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015 and has net assets of $16,024,273. It is classified as a non-profit 501(c)(3).
Sadly, the fact that Planned Parenthood clinic is only providing abortions is unsurprising. Planned Parenthood claims to be a business that is there to protect and help women. However, evidence continues to show that its first interest is purely financial.
