Scientists Hashem Al-Ghaili may not have meant to broach the abortion issue when he made a video showing the unique bond between a woman and her unborn child. But for the millions of people who have watched his remarkable video so far, it is hard to avoid thoughts about abortion and the humanity of each unborn child.
Al-Ghaili, a German research scientist, created the short educational video based on research about the relationship between a mother and her child during pregnancy. The video has become widely popular, with more than 52 million views and close to a million shares on Facebook.
The video explains how unborn babies begin to learn their mother’s native language in the womb and distinguish it from other languages. Unborn babies also can respond to a mother’s touch through the womb by moving in unique ways.

It explains the remarkable healing mechanisms that mutually benefit the mother and unborn child. Stem cells from the baby, for example, can travel to a mother’s injury site and help repair the damage, while others go to her brain to help protect her from diseases like Alzheimer’s, according to the video. Antibodies from the mother also travel to the baby through the placenta and breast milk to help boost the baby’s immune system.
Interestingly, the video explains that a mother’s breast milk also is customized specifically to nurture her baby based on the sex.
The amazing video exposes how wrong it is to treat pregnancy like a disease or a medical disorder that women need fixed or cured. Women’s bodies are uniquely designed to carry and nurture a child, and the physical and relational bond between her and her child is strong. Abortion only destroys that bond and diminishes women’s unique ability to carry a child.
Fortunately, scientific evidence keeps pointing people to the truth about abortion, the amazing process of pregnancy and the special relationship that every mother and child share.
