Nancy Pelosi Complains: Investigating Planned Parenthood for Selling Baby Parts is “UnAmerican”

Congressional Democrats today are rewarding their efforts to shut down the select panel the House of representatives approved to investigate Planned Parenthood and its sales of body parts from abortion babies. The call was led by Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi, who called the investigation “unAmerican.”

But pro-life groups say the call is duplicitous because the Democrats get significant campaign funding from the abortion company.

Here’s more:

Democrats are ramping up their calls for GOP House leaders to disband the committee set up to investigate Planned Parenthood, saying that it is endangering doctors and violating chamber rules.

Opponents of the special panel have been drawing attention to their effort, releasing a letter to Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) this week, and holding a press conference on Friday.

“What’s going on in the Congress today is, to borrow a phrase, unAmerican,” said House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) on Friday, adding that the committee is acting in ways “not seen on Capitol Hill since the days of Joseph McCarthy.”

Democrats said that one person deposed by the committee, whom they did not identify, wrote letters to Ryan and Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) objecting to be called.

“Those requests have been refused or met with deafening silence,” the Democrats wrote to Ryan. “Facing the threat of contempt, that person appeared before the Panel last week. During eight hours of questioning, she was asked to ‘name names’ by Republican staff who refused to explain how their requests bore any relation to a legitimate investigative aim.”

Reynard said that the deposition “lasted much longer than it needed to solely because of the Democrats and the witnesses’ attorneys” putting forward “baseless” objections.

He said that the deposition began at 10 a.m., but the questioning did not begin until 11:23 because of objections.

Leading pro-life groups found it ironic that Pelosi and House Democrats would call for an end to the investigation o the anniversary of Kermti Gosnell’s conviction.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List told LifeNews that Americans need to remember today is the three-year anniversary of the conviction of late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell.

“During Kermit Gosnell’s trial America’s eyes were forced open in horror at the barbarism of late-term abortion. Three years later, we remain one of only seven nations to allow abortion on-demand after five months – a point by which unborn children feel pain,” said Dannenfelser.

“If that were not bad enough, we now know abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood harvest and sell the body parts of aborted children – all while they fight common sense standards aimed at protecting the health and safety of women,” she continued.

She continued:

“These revelations have fueled us. In Congress and in state legislatures across the country, women are taking the lead to advance Pain-Capable legislation, defund and investigate Planned Parenthood, and protect women’s health. Women also support our top legislative priority – stopping abortion after five months – in higher numbers than men. This surge of support among women, and the leadership of courageous women like Rep. Marsha Blackburn and Sen. Joni Ernst, stand in stark contrast to Hillary Clinton’s radical pro-abortion ideology. She recently admitted that ‘the unborn person does not have constitutional rights,’ and has vowed to end the Hyde amendment, effectively forcing taxpayers to fund abortion on-demand up until birth.

“The difference between Hillary Clinton’s unwavering dedication to the extreme demands of the pro-abortion lobby and Donald Trump’s pro-life policy commitments couldn’t be clearer. For the sake of the women injured and children killed by abortionists like Kermit Gosnell, and the babies whose bodies are dismembered and then sold like used car parts by Planned Parenthood, it is critical that we take back the White House in 2016.”

Meanwhile, as LifeNews has reported, the abortion corporation reaps in a huge amount of money by killing more than 300,000 unborn babies a year, and then donates to politicians who will defend its deadly trade.

The evidence of back scratching between the abortion business and pro-abortion politicians continues to stack up as Planned Parenthood desperately attempts to save its reputation and its taxpayer funding. It has faced increasing scrutiny ever since the Center for Medical Progress began releasing undercover videos showing some of its top officials discussing the sale of aborted babies’ body parts.

Since then, reports have revealed how the abortion group donated money to Kamala Harris, the California attorney general who raided CMP lead investigator David Daleiden’s home. Democrats on the U.S. Congressional panel investigating whether Planned Parenthood sold aborted babies’ body parts received campaign donations from the abortion chain, too.

Mollie Hemingway, senior editor at The Federalist, recently uncovered even more evidence that abortion groups appear to be buying influence on the U.S. Congressional panel. According to the report, the top Democrat on the U.S. House panel has numerous ties to abortion advocates that she did not disclosed as conflicts of interest.

Hemingway wrote:

Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL — handpicked for the committee by House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi — has a long history of running interference for abortionists and their allies. A history that includes plum consulting gigs for her felon husband and more than $89,000 in contributions to her campaign coffers. …

According to Open Secrets, Schakowsky has, in fact, received $13,365 from Planned Parenthood. EMILY’S List, a pro-abortion fundraising group that frequently gives out money in many contributions under the reporting threshold, has given Schakowsky $64,553 in reported contributions. The list goes on, including $9,500 from NARAL Pro-Choice America and $1,750 from National Organization for Women.

The campaign money is just one connection. According to the report, abortion advocates also are influencing Schakowsky in a less conspicuous way – through her husband, Robert Creamer. Creamer is a partner in the political firm Democracy Partners (Nancy Pelosi’s daughter also is a partner), and his clients include the top abortion groups in the nation: Planned Parenthood, NARAL, EMILY’s List, National Organization for Women (NOW), Guttmacher Institute and Voters for Choice, the report states.

Hemingway wrote, “Schakowsky’s husband is a partner at Democracy Partners, which profits off of running coordinated messaging and political campaigns for the abortion industry and its activists.”

But that isn’t all. The report also points to an apparent close friendship between Schakowsky and Fay Clayton, a recent witness for the Congressional investigation.
