Sidewalk counselors play a vital role in the pro-life movement, as their encouragement and support saves countless babies from abortion. They offer information that women often don’t receive within the clinic, educating them regarding the development of a baby and the harmful effects of the abortion procedure. In Oklahoma City, one sidewalk counselor’s determination saved the lives of triplets.

The sidewalk counselor was trained by P.L.A.N., an Orthodox organization that trains individuals in effective sidewalk counseling. On its blog, the pro-life group wrote that the sidewalk counselor approached a woman entering an abortion clinic in Oklahoma City, and because of this meeting, the woman decided against the abortion.

She didn’t realize it at the time, but the woman was pregnant with triplets, according to the group. Because of the loving efforts of this sidewalk counselor, three babies were saved, the group said.

There are so many joyful stories of children whose lives were saved because of an encounter with a caring sidewalk counselor. LifeNews previously reported on a case where sidewalk counselor Sherry Pierce saved the lives of twins:

Piece says a mother considering an abortion was about to go ahead with the decision but decided to let her child live after they spoke with her. But what came next surprised Sherry: they saved not one baby but two!

Now seven months later, that same mom gave birth to twin baby girls, Olivia Grace and Kara Shea, and she invited the stranger who met her on that Planned Parenthood sidewalk to celebrate her joy.

It requires a great deal of fortitude to stand on the sidewalk of an abortion facility and encourage the women entering. It can be a hostile environment, with abortion center employees and sometimes patients yelling at them; but these dedicated counselors continue to offer life-affirming alternatives to women and their babies anyway.

The tireless efforts of these counselors must not go unnoticed. They selflessly give of their time and resources to reach out to these women, many of them week after week, year after year. In many cases, they give women one last chance to learn the truth about abortion and choose life for their unborn babies. Because of their dedication, so many precious lives continue to be saved.
