Leading pro-life groups minced no words when it came to criticizing President Barack Obama for vetoing the reconciliation bill that would de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business, which was caught selling the body parts of aborted babies. Hearings have exposed how the abortion company likely violated federal laws to sell the body parts.
The measure also repealed the abortion-funding Obamacare legislation and Obama cited that as the primary reason for vetoing the overall bill.
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins says the blame for the sale of the body parts of aborted babies for profit now lies squarely on Obama’s shoulders as well.

“Mr. President, by vetoing this bill, you alone bear the moral responsibility for sending taxpayer dollars to a group that has engaged in the selling of baby body parts,” he said.
“The American people, through Congress, have spoken loud and clear about this moral injustice. But, unfortunately, yet again, this message has fallen on President Obama’s deaf ears. We urge Congress to override the veto,” Perkins told LifeNews. “Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country, doesn’t need taxpayer dollars, especially in light of the selling of baby body parts and possible partial birth abortion violations. Additionally, federal tax dollars shouldn’t be spent on an organization whose PAC spends tens of millions of dollars on partisan political activities and candidates who support their radical agenda. This forced partnership between taxpayers and Planned Parenthood must end.”
“Congress has blazed a trail for moving this kind of legislation forward when America finally has a president who understands the value of every person, born and unborn. Thanks to this new precedent, the next time a bill removing tax dollars to Planned Parenthood and repealing Obamacare hits a pro-life president’s desk, both the travesties of tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood and Obamacare will be brought to an end,”he concluded.
Congressman Chris Smith, Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Pro-Life Caucus also put the blame for what Planned Parenthood does to further exploit aborted babies on Obama.
“The House and the Senate have spoken, reflecting the will of the American people, and sent a bill to President Obama’s desk that would bar Planned Parenthood from the vast majority of taxpayer dollars it currently receives,” he said. “And now the President has spoken, rejecting our bill and condoning Planned Parenthood’s cruel and inhumane actions.”
“Undercover videos by the Center for Medical Progress have brought into sharp focus the brutal reality of abortion,” Smith continued.
“Did President Obama watch those videos before he vetoed this bill? If he had, he would see that in one clip, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, senior director of Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Medical Services, says on camera: ‘We have been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, and because we know that, I am not going to crush that part. I am going to basically crush below, I am going to crush above, and I am going to see if I can get it all intact . . . I would say a lot of people want liver; and for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance, so they will know where they are putting their forceps.’”
Kristan Hawkins, the president of Students for Life of America, says the veto makes it clear America needs a pro-life president:
“While it is no surprise that President Obama, the most pro-abortion president in our nation’s history, vetoed a bill that would have redirected hundreds of millions of dollars away from a likely criminal organization and to true women’s health organizations, the fact that Congress figured out a way to redirect those funds away from Planned Parenthood without needing two-thirds of the Senate in the first place is historic. This veto – only one of eight bills that Obama has vetoed and the very first pro-life one – underscores the need for the nation to elect a pro-life president in 2016 who does the will of the people instead of pandering to a corrupt and deceitful organization that betrays women and sells them, and their preborn babies, out for the bottom line.”
Rep. Diane Black, a leading pro-life member of Congress said “President Obama’s gall is stunning. He spent this week discussing the need to ‘protect innocent people’ and ‘save more lives’ yet he callously vetoed a bill to protect the most innocent and vulnerable among us from the heinous abuses of Planned Parenthood.”
“What’s more, he denied Americans a chance at relief from his disastrous healthcare law that – nearly six years later – still remains underwater in public opinion polls. The President’s veto is a reminder that Democrats own Obamacare. They passed it over the objections of the American people without a single Republican vote and continue to place loyalty to this failed law over the loyalty they owe to their constituents who suffer Obamacare’s burdensome costs and consequences,” she said.
