In a new video from Care Net, Lovette Vassar shares her heartbreaking story of being forced to have an abortion by her mother at the fragile age of 16. Lovette explains that she grew up in a Christian home but her dad was physically abusive and that led her down a destructive path towards abortion.
The first time she became pregnant she went to an abortion clinic but had an infection and couldn’t have the procedure. Lovette said she’s thankful for that infection now because she has a beautiful 22-year-old son. However, a few months later she became pregnant again and her mother refused to let her have another baby.
She explained, “I became pregnant again by a different guy and I wasn’t so lucky that time. My mom told me there’s no way you’re having that baby. But I wanted to have that baby so bad..but she said no way. She took me to the abortion clinic and I kept crying […] so the nurse brought me back out to my mom and said, ‘She kept crying we can’t do it.’ My mother gave me a look and I knew what that look meant. She brought me to the car and said ‘Lovette when you come back tomorrow you better not cry.’”
The next day Lovette went back to the clinic and had the abortion. During the procedure, a nurse said “She just keeps moving,” referring to the unborn child in Lovette’s womb. Unfortunately, she had another abortion a few months later. Watch the video below to find out how Lovette eventually found healing and forgiveness from both abortions.
