The leader of Democrats in the House claims the series of 10 videos exposing the Planned Parenthood abortion business for selling aborted babies and their body parts are fake, but Nancy Pelosi admits she hasn’t even seen them.

During a weekend interview, Nancy Pelosi questioned the truthfulness of the undercover videos that show Planned Parenthood employees discussing the harvesting and sale of aborted babies and their body parts.

“I don’t stipulate that these videos are real, and the fact is that the [fetal tissue] research that is being criticized … [is] being supported,” Pelosi said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper. “I also know that some of it is not real and you can create any reality that you want.”

Pelosi said she thought Center for Medical Progress, the organization that made the videos, should be investigated instead.

“I think they should be investigated as to how they obtained those and doctor those and then have them be accepted as something that’s an indictment against Planned Parenthood because that’s simply not true,” Pelosi said.

In an email to LifeNews.com, Congresswoman Diane Black, who is heading the effort in the House to de-fund Planned Parenthood, criticized Pelosi.

“Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Planned Parenthood enthusiasts in Congress are embarrassing themselves by continuing to deny what we have all seen with our own eyes. They cannot defend the barbaric activities revealed on these undercover videos, so they demonize and dismiss the source instead. I get it – this is a conversation that Democrats do not want to have, but these videos are indeed real and pretending otherwise will not change the gruesome reality of what is happening behind closed doors at Planned Parenthood clinics across this country,” she said.

Black added: “It is telling that, in her attempt to discredit these videos, Mrs. Pelosi said ‘you can create any reality that you want.’ In a sense, she is right. After all, that is exactly what Democrats have done by choosing to ignore the legitimacy of these films. I find it shameful that, days after Pope Francis exhorted Congress to ‘protect and defend human life at every stage of its development,’ Democrats are already back to their old tricks and are blindly ignoring the truth to justify their continued support of this scandal-ridden abortion giant. I encourage Nancy Pelosi to watch these films and then get back to me.”

Earlier this month, Pelosi said Republicans going after Planned Parenthood don’t understand the birds and the bees.

As LifeNews previously reported, in 2013, the House Minority Leader said late-term abortion is “sacred ground.” She explained, “As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this. This shouldn’t have anything to do with politics.”

In response, Priests for Life wrote her an open leader saying her comments make a mockery of the Catholic faith. They said, “With this statement, you make a mockery of the Catholic faith and of the tens of millions of Americans who consider themselves “practicing and respectful Catholics” and who find the killing of children — whether inside or outside the womb — reprehensible.”

They added, “Abortion is not sacred ground; it is sacrilegious ground. To imagine God giving the slightest approval to an act that dismembers a child he created is offensive to both faith and reason,” the letter adds. “And to say that a question about the difference between a legal medical procedure and murder should not “have anything to do with politics” reveals a profound failure to understand your own political responsibilities, which start with the duty to secure the God-given right to life of every citizen.”

Additionally, earlier this summer, Pelosi said the Planned Parenthood expose’ videos were a “distraction” and there was no way Democrats would support de-funding the abortion giant. Instead of investigating and de-funding Planned Parenthood, Pelosi said there should be an investigation into The Center for Medical Progress, the organization that released the videos.

She said, “Let’s have an investigation of those people who were trying to ensnare Planned Parenthood in a controversy that doesn’t exist.” She concluded, “Planned Parenthood has said that they have done nothing illegal. They do not ever charge, which would be illegal, for fetal tissue. They have only defrayed the cost of mailing that to someone, which is not breaking the law.”
