In Washington D.C., parents are upset that Planned Parenthood is building a facility next to one of the most sought out charter schools in the District. The school, Two Rivers Public Charter School, is located in Northeast D.C. and will be performing abortions when they open next spring. The Washington Post reports that construction has started on the new “flagship” health center located in the 1200 block of Fourth St., NE, and protestors have already started gathering in front of building.
The facility will be directly next to an elementary school and across the street from a middle school. Two Rivers parent Jonathan Owen asked, “Does anyone really believe placing a Planned Parenthood facility literally between two schools is a wise decision for the safety of our children? Protests at abortion facilities are very heated, personal, and can turn physically violent.” He added that the new abortion clinic will stir high emotions, especially for those who have children at Two Rivers and are pro-life.
Of course, Planned Parenthood believes their clinic will do just fine with the school close by. Their president and chief executive, Laura Meyers, said they have other clinics located near schools in other parts of the country and that they “enjoy a strong partnership.” She even mentioned that their “educators” work with many middle and high schools to teach kids on “reproductive health.”
However, parents have indicated in the past that they don’t want Planned Parenthood teaching their children about sex because their materials are often inappropriate for children. In 2014, Live Action release a video of Planned Parenthood employees telling girls that “stop,” really doesn’t always mean, “stop” and encouraging young teen females to participate in sado-masochistic sexual activities, including gagging, whipping, asphyxiation, shopping at sex stores, and viewing pornography.

Additionally, the abortion giant has published multiple “resources” for children and teenagers concerning sexual activity. These materials claim to provide “age appropriate” sex education to children starting at age four. Planned Parenthood justifies starting sex-education at such a young age by stating, “Ideally, medical accurate sexuality education would be taught each year in our schools from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade.”
The executive director of Two Rivers, Jessica Wodatch, said the school is working to keep the parents’ concerns at bay. On August 27th, they sent a letter to parents encouraging them not to engage in conversations with protestors and assuring them that they have plans to increase security around the school.
As LifeNews previously reported, a Catholic-owned construction company called Pizzano Contractors, Inc. is building this particular Planned Parenthood facility. Pizzano Contractors, Inc, is headquartered in Alexandria, VA, and they said in a video ad that they are a “family business.” The owner is Robert Pizzano, Jr. and he is a Catholic who graduated from a Catholic High School. He was also a member of the Catholic school’s Board of Governors and was honored by them for founding a charity in memory of his late son who had developmental disabilities.
At one time, Pizzano Contractors, Inc. listed the Diocese of Arlington on their partial client list; however, after finding out about Pizzano’s connection with Planned Parenthood, the diocese asked to be removed. In August, Live Action News reported that a worker from the construction company cursed at a pro-lifer who was praying in front of the abortion facility.
Lauren Hand explained, “I was kneeling and praying when the guy turned on the hose making the construction dust turn into mud. I told him I would not leave and continued to pray. It didn’t matter what they did to me. At first I was by myself and felt a little discouraged because the guy was cussing at me… And then another prayer warrior showed up and immediately knelt in the mud with me.”
