My Two Adopted Children Could Have Been Abortion Victims at Planned Parenthood

On August 19th, The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released an undercover video catching Planned Parenthood harvesting the brain of an aborted baby who was still alive. As LifeNews previously reported, the footage features former StemExpress procurement technician, Holly O’Donnell, and reveals more about her experience inside Planned Parenthood.

In the video, O’Donnell shares her eyewitness account of workers at the organization’s Mar Monte’s Alameda facility in San Jose, California, harvesting a late-term male unborn baby whose heart was still beating. O’Donnell explains that her supervisor said, “‘Hey Holly, come over here, I want you to see something kinda cool. It’s kinda neat.’”

She continued, “So I’m over here, and the moment I see it I’m just flabbergasted. This is the most gestated fetus and the closest thing to a baby that I’ve seen. And she’s like, ‘Okay I want to show you something.’ And she has one of her instruments and she just taps the heart and it starts beating and I’m sitting here and I’m looking at this fetus and its heart is beating and I don’t know what to think.”

During the harvesting, O’Donnell said she couldn’t stop thinking of the future the little boy could have had if he wasn’t aborted. She said, “Could this be a lawyer or fireman? Could this be the next president? When these babies are 3, will they like to color?” She also said her supervisor gave her a pair of scissors and told her she had to “cut down the middle of the face.” O’Donnell said, “It had a face. It wasn’t completely torn up. And its nose was very pronounced. It had eyelids. Its mouth was pronounced.”

In an article in The Blaze, mother Autumn Miles explains that she was deeply disturbed when she watched this particular video because she realized her two adopted children could have been victims at Planned Parenthood if their biological parents would have chosen abortion. She explained, “The adoption process lasted for a little more than two years for my husband and me. Those years were grueling, and the wait almost unbearable. Hearing that babies’ faces are cut open, even when a heartbeat is present, is horrifying while couples like us wait to give a life to unplanned babies.”

She added, “On average there are about one million abortions performed each year in the United States. While we waited to adopt, around two million babies were aborted and perhaps sold as research tissue.”

At Planned Parenthood’s San Jose facility, doctors perform abortions after 20-weeks fetal age; however, federal law requires that appropriate medical care be given to babies who survive abortion procedures. Additionally, California law requires the same and prohibits experimentation on a fetus with a discernible heartbeat (1 U.S.C. 8, CA Health and Safety Code 123435 & CA Health and Safety Code 123440).

Unbelievably, in a recorded conversation between Dr. Ben Van Handel and CMP undercover investigators, the researcher says, “So you know there are times when after the procedure is done that the heart actually is still beating.” Dr. Handel is the executive director of Novogenix Laboratories, LLC., which is a company that provides researchers with “human primary tissue-specific stem cells.”

Here’s more from Miles:

After hearing Holly O’Donnell’s thoughts about what the child she held could have become, I think of how my adopted son just started crawling and is full of personality. He smiles constantly. My adopted daughter has a sweet disposition and is captivated by music. Both have the makings of greatness. The fact that their life might have been stolen from them grieves me.

Walking into each hospital room to meet my children after they were delivered changed my life. I met two women who chose not to sacrifice their child, but to sacrifice for their child. The two birth mothers that gave my children life are true heroes. They saved the life of their child when they had the choice to terminate their unplanned pregnancy. To define them any other way would be beneath them. Without their bravery and courage my family simply wouldn’t be complete and my babies would not be brightening our lives. Not only do I thank them, but I know that my adopted children will one day thank them as well.

I don’t know how anyone could look into the sweet, vibrant faces of my children and believe it’s morally acceptable to end their lives. The lives of babies are infinitely more valuable that what Planned Parenthood may put down in their “line items.” Next time you think about whether abortion is acceptable, remember the families with adopted babies. Think about how much value they bring to our lives, and consider what we may have missed in the lives we threw away.
