Donald Trump Calls Planned Parenthood Videos “Terrible,” My Pro-Life Views Will Attract Women

In a new interview, pro-life Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump calls the shocking new videos of Planned Parenthood selling aborted babies and their body parts “terrible.” Trump also says that, since a majority of women in America are pro-life, his pro-life views will attract women voters to his campaign if he’s the nominee.

The interview, with the Hollywood Reporter, took place before today’s latest video that catches the nation’s biggest abortion business harvesting the brain of an aborted baby who was still alive, was released.

“Those Planned Parenthood videos that came out recently are terrible,” Trump said about the videos. “It was also the cavalier way that they spoke about it. They didn’t exactly have great representatives on the other side.”

Last weekend, Trump called the Planned Parenthood videos “disgusting” and said Planned Parenthood ought to be de-funded.

Trump also admitted in the interview he didn’t think as much about the issue of abortion when he took a pro-abortion view before having a change of heart and becoming pro-life.

“Don’t forget, when I was asked the first time [in 1999, he said he was “very pro-choice”], I was a real estate developer, and that was not a question that people went around asking you. And I actually said that the concept of abortion was always a tough concept for most people,” he said.

During the interview, Trump said he thinks his pro-life views will actually help him with female voters since polling data shows a majority of women oppose abortion — despite Planned Parenthood’s “war on women” mantra attacking pro-life groups and candidates as somehow opposing women because they oppose abortion.

“You know, many women are pro-life. It’s actually a 50-50 number right down the middle. It’s actually 52, 53 percent in favor of pro-life. It’s actually going the way toward pro-life. A lot of people don’t know that. So I think that probably in terms of votes, it’s a neutral. … With pro-life it’s actually trending toward more and more pro-life, I think it’s up to 54 percent.”

In fact, a CBS News poll released this year shows a majority of the public, including women, opposes the reasons for which over 90% of all abortions are performed. And a 2015 Gallup poll shows a majority of Americans oppose all or most abortions — including women.

When asked when abortion should be legal, 55 percent of Americans oppose all abortions or say abortion should only be legal in a “few circumstances,” typically defined as cases such as rape, incest or if the life of the mother is in danger. Since those cases constitute, at most, 1-2 percent of all abortion cases, Gallup’s numbers confirm 55 percent of Americans oppose 98 percent or more of the 1.1 million abortions that take place annually in the United States.
